How to send via media mail after buyer has agreed to shipping?

Hey everyone,

I sold a few DVDs to one person and am in the "waiting for payment phase". The buyer wants me to ship the items via media mail, but since the items have sold I cannot go back and change the shipping option. Any suggestions?

When you purchase your shipping label you will be able to change the type of service.  You also can send an invoice with a revised shipping cost.

You should be able to ship from Paypal or the USPS website.

.............general reply......................

my suggestion is to ship them how they were supposed to be shipped,I am unsure how they were advertised as far as shipping,if you had 1st class listed that is how they should be shipped.

what works for me is I always ship how things are listed.I would never let a buyer tell me how to ship,if you have a plan for shipping just use it and ignore the messages from the buyer.

The OP has not been paid yet.  They have sold some heavy DVD sets that were listed with Priority Mail shipping. IMHO in this case the buyer's request is reasonable since it represents significant savings.  Yes, he should have asked before purchasing. But as long as it's a request and not a demand, I don't see the harm. This is a new seller and this could be a useful learning experience..

@peace_frog0715,

The buyer's request is an inappropriate one.  The estimated delivery time frame shown on a listing are based on the shipping method you chose for the listing.  If the buyer had contacted you before committing to buy, you could have added Media Mail to the options you have for shipping method(s).  If you print your labels through ebay/paypal you should be able to add Media Mail to an invoice and send that to the buyer, but since they committed to buy already at the price and shipping method and cost given on the listing, you may not be able to do that.

@nobody*s_perfect,

I looked at the seller's sold items and the last few sold sets show Standard Shipping, and there is no mention of combined shipping.  Though since the items have not been paid for yet they may not be showing in sold items list.

Since I already offer at least two shipping methods for my items, rarely sell using BIN and none of My BIN listings are likely to be combined with other items I offer. I do not know if the shipping method can be changed after the buyer commits to buy.

If the OP cannot change or add a new shipping method, their only option would be to ask the buyer to request cancelling the transactions, which they do using buyer requested cancellation, after they could create a private listing for all of the items with the Media Mail option.

@mudshark61369

As noted above, the seller can send an invoice with a revised shipping cost, and then can purchase any shipping service he wants through eBay.  Next time you purchase a shipping label, you can see that all of the USPS options are there.  If eBay has set up new strange restrictions on that, he can purchase the label at PayPal.

In the OP's Sold items from yesterday, I see 5 DVD sets: Two offered First Class package shipping (shows on the main listing page as "Standard") and the other 3 offered Priority Mail shipping (shown on the listing page as "Expedited") at either the 1-pound or two pound rate. Depending on which listing and where the buyer lives, switching to MM could save up to $11.57.

eBay's "private listing" option does not include the option to limit who can purchase an item; it merely hides information in bid history and on the feedback page.
