Buyer sent message to delay shipping, then purchased immediately before I could change the handling time. She also wrote it in the details box after the purchase.
My question is how do I keep the messages in case I need them for ebay, since I will be dinged for no label or scan by holding off shipping for a few days. I am a low volume seller and try to never do anyhing like this.
What is the difference between archiving messages and putting them in a folder? How long do the messages stay archived or in folders? Thanks.

I would just ship it.

OK thanks. It should roll off after 3 months so 5 months is good. Just never used any of the message features.

I would ship no matter what the buyer requests. eBay will dock you if you do not, as they do not care if a buyer requests a delayed shipping date. This has happened to me and I still have 3 shipping delays from the same buyer/bought 3 items for it. I did what the buyer requested and when I called eBay they basically said tough twinkies as they claimed their algorithms have factored in this sort of thing which was not true. Trust me, eBay could care less about customer service to YOUR buyer. eBay will NOT even look at a message from a buyer requesting a delay as this is exactly what I offered as proof. Ship it and explain it to the buyer that due to eBay shipping policy you MUST ship within the eBay designated time frame and cannot delay it. eBay Reps will NEVER tell you to delay shipping for any reason. Have them contact eBay if needed.

Tell the buyer to file a VACATION HOLD with the post office, because you must ship the item. Buyer can retrieve the package when they return.

I would message the buyer.
I'm sorry but I ship promptly. If you are going out of town please put your mail on hold or place an order with your Post Office that you would like your packages Held For Pickup.

General reply. Thanks everyone for your input. I am going to help the buyer out this one time. She was already out of town when she purchased. It's an antique fragile item that is not replaceable. First time I have done this for someone. Hopefully it doesn't backfire.
I am aware this is my only ( 1 item) forgiveness for the next 3 months. From what I'm reading the buyer needs to say it was on time in feedback too. I think she will do that if I ask her. We exchanged a few messages about it.
