So I sold an item with "free" postage where I would pay it. It is a letter sized item so I can just use postage stamps that I already have to send it.
The issue here is that unless I pay for and print out the shipping label from eBay itself, it will always be marked as Paid and Dispatched, but never delivered as I can't find a way of manually setting it to delivered.
Yeah I could just pay for the label as it doesn't cost much but there is really no need as I already have a way of sending it and the cost would cut into the relatively inexpensive product.
Is there a way of changing it to be marked as "Delivered" or does it really not matter if it's marked as "Undelivered"? (As long as it actually has been delivered.)

Without a doubt, you are braver than I am. I will NOT risk having a ding against me for an INR and have to refund in full too and give the item away. I would not send a postage stamp without tracking. It is not worth losing my account over IMHO.
Without tracking, there is NO way to prove delivery. Period. Yes it matters. And eBay can and will close your account over it. It's a defect.

eBay has NO protections for sellers (nor does PayPal) if you can not provide tracking information that confirms delivery. For that reason, most sellers will refuse to use a USPS first class stamp. Or if they do, they'll add tracking to it.
There are only two ways for things to be marked as delivered. The tracking indicates delivery (which in this case can't happen) or the buyer marks it as delivered (which you have no control over).
At this point, there is nothing more you can do.

Go to your orders waiting to ship, using the drop down menu, click mark as shipped.
You can mark it shipped, but that won't keep buyer from filing an INR and you could end up having to refund.
And, if your payments are being held, with no tracking, the payment will be held for 21 days.

If sellers could mark their own packages as Delivered, there would be no point in using it as an evaluation criterion.

Are you here to make money or give money away. Because if you use stamps and have no tracking the buyer can claim an INR. You would have to refund.

You are a new seller so please, please read all these replies and take all this good advice. It comes from seasoned sellers on here who are simply trying to save you money and more.
As the seller you are responsible for getting your package delivered to your buyer. Without tracking there is no way to confirm delivery. You will end up with many refunds and will lose money in the end. You really need to purchase a label in order to have tracking.
That said, the answer to your question is simply go to the drop down menu on the left of your sold item. You can mark it as being shipped. There is no way for you as the seller to mark an item as delivered.
Heed the warnings and best of luck to you....

As others mentioned, if a buyer files an item not received claim and there is no delivery confirmation to show that they've received it, the seller will lose the claim. With that being said...there are sellers do ship small inexpensive items without tracking and have very few problems doing so. I suspect that some categories might have a higher risk than others.

you don't need it marked delivered, well you can't do that anyway.
marked dispatched is all you need to do.
i have sent 1-2 thousand items without tracking, not a big deal if low value/low risk item.

You seem to have a misconception about what "free" shipping/postage means 😞
When a seller offers "free P&P" (in UK parlance), it does NOT mean that the seller has to eat the postage cost. It means that the postage cost is rolled into the item price ... as shipping included.
Raise your prices to include tracked shipping and buy tracked postage through eBay.

1. You can't do waht you want to do when you ship via postage stamp mai. eBay makes the seller resposible for having the purchased item delivered to teh buyer in the condition it was described in the listing. Without tracking you are wide open to Item Not Receive cases.
2. A relatively inexpensive option is teh USPS First Class Package Service that provides tracking to you buyer. Here is a link to the the relative costs - you can buy thru eBay and receive the commercial rate. Rates start at $2.66

Sorry just saw you are in Great Britain so that link "ain't no good for you". Maybe you have something similar to our First Class Package service. Do some research at your end and see what floats your boat.

No. To put it another way, you can mark it as Shipped because you're the one who shipped it, but you cannot mark it as Delivered because you're not the one who delivered it. Only the carrier can make that determination.

It does matter if the buyer chooses to file an Item Not Received dispute (either real or fibbing). Without tracking, you will be unable to prove delivery and thus be forced to refund in full. For low-cost, lightweight sales, it might be a risk you can absorb in exchange for mailing with stamps only, but that's entirely up to you.
