How to handle shipping in two separate boxes?

I will be listing a vintage computer system that will need to be shipped in two separate boxes.  I understand that the eBay shipping caculator is incapable of calculating shipping with two boxes.

Anyone have any suggestions for how to handle this?  Should I just not put a shipping total and tell the bidders that shipping will be calculated at end of auction?  Or should I add the amount of the second box as a 'handling fee' on the listing?

Thanks for any advice y'all might have on this.

That is not an option.

I take it it's the computer and the monitor? If so I would consider selling them separately.

Re: How to handle shipping in two separate boxes?

Actually, it is a Macintosh Plus, and its original external Hard Disk 20, keyboard and mouse. It is always a good idea to ship a compact all-in-one unit by itself, with the peripherals in a separate box, to avoid possible damage to the CRT on the Mac.

There is no way that I would ship it.

I know how to pack delicate electronics...it is risky, but if done correctly they make the trip just fine. 😉

Re: How to handle shipping in two separate boxes?

if yo are selling both in one listing, why cant you  show total shipping cost?

Plenty of sellers sell lots and they use multiple boxes.

You will have 2 tracking numbers,Ebay allows you to print more than one shipping labels/

Re: How to handle shipping in two separate boxes?

The issue isn't whether the seller can ship two boxes. The issue is how to show the shipping cost in the listing.

Re: How to handle shipping in two separate boxes?

Yes, thanks, partial*eclipse...that is the issue. I understand that eBay lets you print more than one shipping label per listing, at the very end, when you are printing shipping labels.

But they do not provide a way to include the cost of BOTH boxes in the shipping total on item description, not that I can find or figure out. I am guessing the safest bet would be to describe that the handling fee includes the cost of shipping the second box. Seems silly that there is no way to do at the beginning of the process what they clearly say is possible at the END of the process!

Box 1 shipping to zone 8 plus Box 2 shipping to zone 8.

Done.

Re: How to handle shipping in two separate boxes?

Thanks, but there is still no clear way to show that total in the listing description.

I ended up calling eBay Concierge, and they suggested leaving it at "to be determined by buyer's location" and to tell the winner to request an invoice, as I can then put the proper total for both boxes into the invoice.
