I am getting quite frustrated with Fedex and UPS.
I accurately measure, weight and print a label supposedly at a cheaper cost (because using ebay discounted rates) only to find out, after each delivery, an extra charge, which at times can be greater than the sale itself.
I even add an inch in each dimension, and a full extra pound on the weight but doesn't matter,
they always find a way to steal money at the end, while ebay watches...
The items are shipped in boxes so the dimension is written on it and doesn't change depending on who's measuring.
The losses in my small store are in the hundreds/ thousand every year.
Ebay doesn't protect us either, in fact, is giving them full permission to charge our accounts without any detailed explanation at all.
The over charges are anywhere from 25% to +100% of the original shipping label.
The only thing you can do is call ebay, have them open a dispute which you almost never win.
Using USPS seems to be the only feasible option but sometimes the weight and dimensions restriction are
not compatible with the item you're shipping.
What to do? The money is being illegally taken from my account.

@moc-store A number of years ago FedEx did that to me a couple of times and the worst one was the Buyer paid about 23 and I was charged about 46 ... and it was NOT a dimensional weight issue, just "Other charges" or something on the bill ... I have NEVER used them since. I ship via USPS now ...

If you must ship by UPS, go to the actual UPS store and pay for the shipping there. This way, they don't charge you more later. It's ridiculous what UPS and FEDEX are doing but I doubt that you will get anywhere suing them. Try and use USPS only. DOn't forget about the new postal surcharges that started in the spring.

Gregorysproshop,
May I suggest you speak with the following lawyers?
Sidney Powell
Rudy Giuliani
Alex Cannon
Hillary Clinton
I'm sure they could use the business about now.

A cashless society will just allow more of this. You can't keep them out of "your" accounts!

I don't know what you are shipping but you have to calculate the postage for oversize parcels based on dimensional weight calculations. Any parcel that exceeds 12x12x12 cubic will include the DIM weight charges.
If you are shipping a package via a carrier with the following dimensions:
The first step is to multiply the length, width, and height together to get the cubic size of the package. In the above example, the package would be 1,260 cubic inches (12 inches x 15 inches x 7 inches). The next step is to divide the cubic size by the DIM factor of 139, giving the package a dimensional weight of 9 lbs.
Even if the package weighs 5 lbs, the carrier will use the DIM weight (9 lbs.) to determine the final price. If the package actually weighs 15 lbs., the carrier will use the actual weight. Again, carriers will base their pricing on whichever costs more: the dimensional weight or the actual weight.

Let me know about class action if someone starts one. Just paid 147 to deliver large tv size box weighing under 40 pounds . Ups just took 1200.01 out of my checking 5 days after delivery I’m sick to my stomach. Print in box was worth less than 100 dollars

Don’t pin your hopes on a class action suit. Maybe you get $5 out of it. Regardless, if there a suit, you don’t have to nominate yourself - they will come to you. 2x regardless, there isn’t going to be one.

@moc-store FedEx-eBay pulled that on me a number of years ago and the worst was Buyer paid $ 23 and I owed $ 46 well after the fact ... no dimensional weight size, no weight error, just "Extra" charge that neither eBay of FedEx would explain ... note I used "would" and not "could" ... a detailed breakdown and explanation was NOT forthcoming ... I have never used them since and ship exclusively with USPS.

Good luck finding a decent lawyer who will bother with a classaction suit over a measely few hundred dollars.
