How many others are encountering what I can only consider a glitch with ebay shipping charges

I have received a larger amount of sales today, which was great until I went and viewed the shipping options that these customers were allowed to use they pay $1.25 for shipping, but I have to pay five dollars. There should be restrictions in place if they're going to restrict us from using the option of $1.25 to ship then don't make it available for us to use it in our templates this isn't my fault. I did my due diligence to make sure that I had my item up for the public to see and purchase if it wasn't able to be sold and shipped through a regular envelope don't allow it to be an option. This is ridiculous. I'm wondering how many other people are going to this right now don't go taking more of my money, eBay! With all the fees and others it's really reaching a new low to do this!

No glitch, seller error.

Ebay Standard Envelope is only for a few categories.

Have a great day.

It's not a glitch. You have made a mistake on your shipping settings. Most of your listings show 1.25 or less in shipping charges. You need to go in to each of your settings and change it. You have it set to shipping using an envelope. You need to change your settings to package instead of envelope.

@micwainsco0

Here is a listing of the item categories which can be used for the eBay Standard Envelope (ESE) --

Eligible categories

As of Nov 2023, four additional categories are now eligible to use eBay standard envelope, expanding the service to eight categories. See the full list of category paths.

  • Patches
  • Stickers & Decals
  • Greeting Cards
  • Seeds
  • Trading Cards
  • Coins & Currency
  • Postcards
  • Stamps

Clearly, the items which you are attempting to ship by ESE do not comply.

None of your items qualify for media mail either.

The buyer can still choose that option because you chose to use it on your listing.

BUT, you can't actually use it to ship and will have to buy the correct shipping service.

Lift your left leg at midnight to start off on the right foot. Happy new Year!

I disagree @micwainsco0 . If you did, you would have researched the shipping services you are offering.

eBay does not know whether your item qualifies to ship as a letter or as Media Mail or if it's hazmat and has to ship Ground. All of that is on you to research in advance and make sure you are offering appropriate shipping methods. eBay gives sellers the freedom to offer different services because categories can often have different types of items that may qualify so they leave it up to the seller to make those determinations. They don't do the work for you.

It's pretty clear you did not research any of the shipping methods you're offering to see if your items are eligible.

Item 364992541526 does not physically qualify to ship as a First Class Flat/Large Envelope.

Item 364959764096 does not physically qualify to ship as a letter, nor is the category on the approved list for eBay Standard Envelope which is a letter mail service.

Item 365161565897 is not eligible for USPS Media Mail and if your package is inspected and caught by USPS, you are going to face problems - anything from buyers getting hit with a postage due situation (which you're responsible for), to USPS restricting your use of the service, to fines for habitual offenders and more.

A wise move on your part would be to immediately do a bulk edit and change all of your listings to Ground Advantage.

Easy to get into a pickle, if you are listing a bunch of things and one can go by ESE, then you forget to change the settings on the next one.... all your subsequent listings will have ESE as the first method.
