How is business going for everyone since USPS is so delayed with shipping?

Hello,

I use to sell a lot on eBay and trying to get back into the swing of things.  However, with COVID-19 messing everything up, I am a little hesitant so I am just asking.

USPS has plummeted in its delivery times and for me to sell CDs and DVDs is a little shaky when they can not deliver on time.

Any suggestions?

@gbracho

Most of my items go USPS 1st Class, and for the most part delivering in a timely manner.

A little hiccup here, and there, but nothing causing buyer distress now that the Holiday "stand still" issues have settled out.

It is hit and miss.

Most of my first-class parcels make it on time without incident. I have had one since January that was misplaced. I ended up refunding the buyer. A few weeks later the parcel was found and delivered.

I still use first-class for cheaper items (understanding this is a gamble), but if the price point is over a certain threshold, I opt for UPS ground and pay the extra few dollars.

For items that need to go priority (those over 15.9 oz.), I pay the dollar-or-two difference and opt for UPS ground.

As a buyer, for more expensive items, I have been requesting UPS ground service and paying the difference to my seller.

I think a lot of it depends on where you ship from. I ship out of Philly and Priority Mail has become unusable here. I'm moving all items over 1 lb over to UPS/Fedex except for AK/HI/PR and PO Box addresses. I just had to issue a $54 refund today for a Priority Mail item that hasn't arrived after 2 weeks. I have another one going past 3 weeks where the customer is still waiting. That one will be a $65 refund if the buyer gives up waiting.

Strangely, First Class still seems to be moving along for the most part. Tracking shows that my First Class items are mostly being processed in a different facility outside of Philly. I'll continue to use that for smaller items because I don't realistically have a choice. The private carriers are 2-3x the price on those small items.

I have not had a serious delay on anything the whole time of covid except during the election.  There is quite a wait time for one of my orders now but  since it is made to order and coming from Australia that is kinda expected. Last LP lot I purchased was paid for on the 6th, shipped on the 7th and arrived in Ohio from Texas on the 13th via Media Mail.

Since the election-holidays slowdown I have had excellent service, even a couple MM packages were pretty quick. I guess it's all where you're at...
