How generous are you with the delivery option you select - Price vs Time

On somewhat larger items (for me) like shoes and small kitchen appliances, I usually list them as standard shipping so that I have the option to choose which one I want. Well for instance today I sold a pair of shoes and the shipping cost via FedEx was $14.50 while with UPS Ground it was $12.50. I charged in the listing $15 for shipping. Do you opt for the faster more expensive shipping method to provide better service, or save where you can and go with UPS (in this instance).

Why do you switch to UPS?

UPS has an overall better track record for on time delivery and zero lost shipments over the last 1000 across venues. UPS has actually never lost a shipment that I shipped with them.

USPS has had issues with misrouted and lost shipments that I have shipped. USPS can create some serious problems, especially for sellers that happen to have no choice but to use them and those sellers are routing through certain, problem infested distribution centers.

I don't gamble with USPS on the higher dollar shipments.

Free shipping, Fed Ex Express 2 Day. Added to cost of item. We sell fairly expensive items. Stuff gets to customers about as fast as Amazon Prime. Few problems with people complaining about waiting for the item. Attracts buyers who need it fast. Small items 9 x 6 x 2 package average shipping cost 15 to 16 bucks.
