How do you ship Fedex 2 won listings in one package?

Sold a larger $100 local pickup item and a small $60 free shipping item to same person. Agreed to ship $100 local pickup item for an additional $30 shipping and got a separate payment for that in addition to two separate payments for each item. Buyer said to ship in one package and obviously I want to do that to save shipping. The question is, how do I enter the tracking number for the two items? Will Ebay take the same number for both? I'm using Fedex through Ebay shipping.

You can't.

Will Ebay take the same number for both?

Nope.

Combine the orders together.

Go to your awaiting shipping. Select the orders to be combined. Under actions select print shipping labels. Next screen you can combine the orders into one and print the shipping label.

Now...it's been a long time since I've done this, since I don't use Ebay shipping, but I think it still works this way. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, I'm sure!

I have had people buy 2 of my items and pay for them separately and I just add the second tracking number to the 2nd item.  I have never had an issue.  Maybe I should be quiet.

You can pack both items and go to the shipping page for the most expensive one and enter the dimensions and weight for the combined package and print the label. You can then manually enter the same Tracking# for the other item. The main downside is you can only buy insurance for the value of first item. The only other option I know is to print the label from the FedEx site or take it to FedEx and then manually enter the Tracking# for both items.

Well, I never ship FedEx, to date I have only shipped 3 packages, all cell phones with pre-paid labels going to Verizon insurance. None ever arrived and no tracking scans ever showed anywhere.

But with USPS combining two lots into one package is easy. Use the one listing to create the postage label using the combined packages weight and other info. It will automatically input the tracking. Then cut and paste that onto the second listings tracking area. The exact same way you would enter tracking if you took the item to the PO and bought postage there.

There is no choice for Fedex when I do this, just USPS.

What second tracking number? I'm shipping the 2 items in one package so only one tracking number.

Hope this works, once I print the label there is no going back.

Sorry, the same tracking number to the second package.

Sure there is.

If it doesn't work, you just try something else. You do not have to void an unused FedEx label, and you wont get charged for it. The only drawback is that that FedEx label tracking number will be automatically attached to the transaction and you wouldn't be able to remove it, but that is just an esthetic annoyance.

Side thought:

I just had a small epiphany when I wrote that. Even though it might cost more to ship a return via FedEx, it might be a better option for a seller issued return label than a paid for USPS label in cases where there is only a 50% chance the buyer is going to use the label and return the item (because the USPS label is gone and can't be voided, but the FedEx label doesn't get charged unless used). Hmmmmm.

It worked. Created the label for the cheaper but free ship item, and entered that tracking number into the local pickup item as well. Isn't this ripe for abuse? You sell numerous items to the same buyer, post the same tracking number for all of them but only put one in the box? Buyer couldn't claim INR, just SNAD but thats not technically correct.

I too just had an epidural as well.

USPS and FatX both have long and short forms of the same tracking number:https://www.fedex.com/us/developer/WebHelp/ws/2014/dvg/WS_DVG_WebHelp/WS_Developer_Guide_files/image038.pngDo use the short tracking number for one listing --

and the long barcode tracking number for the other listing.

USPS has the destination 420 + zipcode hidden, prefixed to the tracking number.

So you have two versions of the same USPS tracking number:

tracking_number

420 + zipcode + tracking_number

to provide as tracking on your two listings.

Glad it worked.

Yes, INR gets taken off the table, but unsure if eBay CS can override that.

I believe eBay considers a combined order to be a single entity, so SNAD applies if seller shorts the buyer (plus the fact that even a properly delivered, as described item can be SNAD if buyer says so anyway).

Can also be problematic for returns for SNAD or remorse, as I recall that ALL items in a combined shipment have to be returned, but I think that depends on if the shipment was officially combined (via cart or seller doing so?)

It would come down to whether buyer can open a return for a single part of the combined order

(I basically don't get returns, have only shipped combined maybe 4 times in 14 years, and this is an area that posters like missjen are far better versed in)
