How do you have gains when shipping items domestically in the US for under $3.00 ?

The cheapest shipping I've known is USPS First Class shipping for about 4 ounces or under which is about $2.66.

For people who ships items domestically for about $2 per item (buy it now price), how do you gain from this?

Seller may not be using tracked shipping.  May fit in an envelope. seller takes chance, as no proof of delivery.

I sometimes list with $2 shipping.  The rest of the cost of tracked shipping is in the selling price of the item.

On another account I sell small booklets and pamphlets. Prices range from $3 to $6. I ship them in an envelope with a stamp, and occasionally have to add an additional ounce stamp if the booklet is over an ounce. Total cost to ship - 50 or 71 cents. No tracking. My cost per item is either zero or less than a nickel.  So far in four years I've not had a single "lost" item. I do know that if someone claims that they didn't get the booklet, I'll have to immediately refund. I'm fine with that. The increase in sales more than makes up for that tiny chance of loss. That particular account does 4-5 times the volume of this one, btw.  I also have a Paypal micropayments account, cost is 5 cents plus 5% for anything under $12.

I have done that too when selling cards or flat objects in a letter and a 50cent stamp. I have personally asked the USPS receptionist about sizes and objects to be shipped for stamps and they said that's only for very flat objects like paper.

How do you ship with that method by the way?

I have done that too but I'm talking about objects that are not flat enough to fit in a letter envelope. Like let's say a toy that's at least the size of your palm and listed for $2 buy it now with free shipping.

All items that I ship are done with tracking. Was just suggesting what some may do slight_smile

I rarely sell under total $9.95

$2 BIN with free ship may be coming from a distant land where even 99 cent items ship free

Selling an item fo $2 that can't go via First Class Mail with free shipping one can not make a profit even if they got the product for free. Perhaps they are just cleaning iut unsold stock at a loss or maybe just selling as a low cost hobby.

Either that or the seller is not being truthful about their location and they're coming from China.
