How do you dispute a late delivery ding , when my item was shipped within two business days?

How do you dispute a late delivery mark from eBay, when my item was shipped within two business days? Item was purchased on evening of August 29 and sent on September 3. I thought I had two business days. September 2 was Labor Day and no Mail that day.  After item was purchased, I messaged the buyer and told them the item would ship within the two business days after the Labor Day weekend.  Friday was business day one , Saturday was not a business day, Sunday not a business day, and Monday was a holiday.  I shipped on Tuesday.  eBay said buyer would expect package by Thursday and counts me as shipping late? How do I keep this from happening in the future?

 

Where do you contact eBay to dispute their claim?  Buyer did not have any issues with date received.

Do you have a 2-day handling time?  If so, then the second business day would be the Tuesday after Labor Day.  Did you get an Acceptance Scan to show on the tracking that you took the package in within your handling time?

 

You dispute the ding by clicking on HELP & CONTACT at the op of every screen and get a phone number to call ebay customer service.

I got 98.8% even though I try to get a package out immediately. I dread getting a purchase Saturday after 8 am on a 3 day weekend. I work 10 hours on Saturday. Sometimes a package is caught in some kind of limbo between cities and we get nailed on that too.

I had that happen to me too!!! Shipped 2 items in one package, scanned 2 days BEFORE my deadline. Package went coast to coast, hit San Francisco and the poor package went in and OUT of there 5 TIMES and it had a San Francisco address?!? It was FINALLY delivered 10 days late and I got a major shipping ding after being 100% on time for years. I just sucked it up, never did anything about it and am gradually getting the metric back up. I'm at 98.28% but even with a perfect shipping record (AND the USPS cooperation) it's going to take me YEARS to get back to 100%.

Did you get dinged for late shipment or late delivery?

If it was late delivery, not much you can do since you can't control how fast the carrier gets the item delivered.

Ugh! It looks like my postal service did not scan my items on the day they picked them up, so everything shows up as being accepted a day later! I have the email saying the pick up I had scheduled was completed on Tuesday 9/ 3, but that does not have the tracking codes on it. Looks like I can't do anything about the post office. I think sometimes our local office is not getting their routes completed before pick up happens for priority, so they don't bother processing them. Very frustrating that we can't depend on them!

eBay was saying I shipped late! Which, I guess the tracking shows because they were not scanned the day they were picked up. I guess the only way to avoid any late processing of acceptance at the post office is to drive the packages there. Very disappointed in USPS. I've heard of areas where packages get scanned as delivered, but don't show up until the next day. Scan seems to benefit them to show more on time deliveries. Wish eBay would not put so much weight on the shipping if we can't control what the post office will do with our packages! The Holidays are coming and it will only get worse.

It's too hard to contact eBay to try to correct...I'm sure they could be very overwhelmed with helping people. I wish it was easier to contact by email and get results, so you don't have to wait on the phone.

I'm sorry this happened to you! This was my first late and I do take it very personally, especially when I did ship on time! I'm not sure how many buyers pay close attention to the shipping rating, but I don't like to see it drop when it is from nothing I did. Wish eBay had a little button next to the tracking, so we could alert them to why we dispute the tracking. That would make it so much easier!

I got dinged for late ship. My scheduled pick up email shows the pick up was completed on the day I shipped, but nothing was scanned as accepted until the day after, which caused the late ship! Very frustrated with USPS!

That is the very reason many sellers spend the time to brave long lines at the PO to make sure they get their packages scanned.

I would contact the Postmaster or Delivery Supervisor and inquire why your packages were not scanned.

Isn't it showing on your dashboard?  I can't see that.

It shows in my seller standards dashboard late shipment rate. I think if it continues to happen, customers would notice a different rating. It probably doesn't affect my rating right now, but could if more lates happen and they don't necessarily have to be caused by me. That's the part that is frustrating and out of my control! It all depends on that scan from USPS.
