Many times, especially with expensive items I spend the extra $2-3 per package (along with insurance) to get signature confirmation. Of the 12 I've done in the last 30 days UPS failed to get 5 signatures. One resulted in a buyer claiming they didn't receive the item. Who refunds that money spent on work (signature confirmation) that doesn't get performed?

If you used UPS through ebay, this is yet another reason not to, as it put ebay in the middle. If you used your own UPS account file a dispute on the UPS website. If you used ebay, good luck hammering on them to help you.

UPS isn't responsible when reciver wouldn't sign. All reciver needs to say is; ' Just leave it behind the door, I have a fever today' . That's it! Driver will ask for a name or not and package is dropped by the porch
So for more expensive merchandise, you're better off to insure the package. I insure all my packages. It pays off in the long run. If package is insured, item wouldn't be delivered unless a physical signature is obtained
I had a insured Fedex package delivered few days ago, driver wouldn't leave unless it was signed for!
