First time seller & shipping

I am first time seller, selling a large item, a Jenn Air Stove top.  Someone bought it.  How do I or the buyer know how much it will cost to ship until I take it to UPS (for example)?  I am not exactly sure even how to put this thing in a box.  I am also not sure if my listing indicated who would pay shipping.  I cannot find a helpful answer anywhere on ebay.  I assumed once someone bought it I could call ebay and ask what happens next.  Yes, I know, never assume.

Yes, you set up correctly for "Buyer pays shipping." You do not need to tell the buyer how much to pay for shipping; that's already in the listing.

When a listing is set up with calculated shipping, any member who looks at the listing automatically sees the shipping cost to their own ZIP Code. The seller sees the shipping cost to ship to their own location, even after the item is sold.

Sellers are required to ship the shipping cost in the listing. It's not something that you think about after the sale.

Your listing was set up with USPS Parcel Select Ground shipping.  That's an online service but you won't be able to purchase it through eBay.  For the sake of other posters, here's a link to the listing:

I strongly recommend that you box up your item, then measure the box and come here for advice.  For a large item, the price might go by package volume rather than weight, so every inch matters.

Has the buyer paid for the item?

Come back to let us know the size, weight and destination zip code after you pack the item securely for shipping, @analyst350.

The buyer has not paid yet.  I sent a message to buyer explaining I don't know how the shipping part works.  Might be best to just cancel it for now.

^^^ That won't be best... just yet, anyway. If you cancel as 'Out of stock' (which is the only truthful reason now), you'll get a seller defect to your account. Not good for any seller. Price the shipment before you do this.

Buyer should have been shown the shipping cost based upon the info you provided in the listing.

With the info provided, depending upon the buyer location, USPS shipping could be from $82.50 to over $200. Possibly more based upon the overall size when boxed up.

So would the buyer make a payment of the $100 purchase prices plus $82.50 or wait until I provide total shipping cost?  Also, did I enter correctly that the buyer pays shipping?  Thank you.

@analyst350

Oh, my. The buyer will pay the $100 listing price plus the $149 shipping cost... just as you have it listed. You have already listed your shipping cost... don't sell yourself short. You've got to box it and get it to the carrier.

Oh my indeed.  Where are you seeing the shipping cost as $149?  I only see the $82.50.

Your Sold listing shows $100 + $149.90 Economy shipping. Do you not see that??

Edit: I don't see $82.50 anywhere.

The listing was set up with calculated shipping, so there are 7 different potential shipping prices depending on where you live, ranging from $82.50 to $215.00.

$82.50 would be the cost to your Zip(or any zip considered local.

Each potential buyer would see the cost based upon their zip.

I often pop in 90210 (easy to remember) to see max cost to zone 8

Aha! I'm in Tennessee, so I'm seeing the shipping cost to me as $149.90. Didn't think of 'calculated'... sorry.
