Im using QR codes with labels provided at the post office. Everythings been going fine except last week I made an error and used the same QR code twice, 2 days apart. So a buyer got their legitimate purchase and several days later a bonus delivery. The alert second buyer sent a sweet tactful msg that prompted me to check their tracking and it wasn't in the system after 2-3 days of my mailing it! That's when I discovered my terrible mistake. Why did the system allow the same label to be used twice? If Im been charged twice I've paid for 4 pounds on a 1#+ pkg. The bigger question do I have any recourse or proof that the first buyer got a bonus unpaid for, accidental (and pricy) delivery? The buyer was away for several days but answered my msg that they did receive it, and will refuse it to the mailman when they return (tomorrow). Hopefully they will, fingers crossed.
1) why did it allow a QR code to be used twice?
2) do I have any recourse if they don't return it?
3) would there be 2 sets of tracking on the accidently twice used QR code labels? 🥺

1: Don't know
2: No
3: If it's the same tracking number, there would only be the one.

Question 1-- who would know??
The post office won't answer any QR questions, saying that is a label broker and eBay arrangement and has nothing to do with them.
SO, who answers QR questions?
The eBay agent thought it was very odd that it printed twice. She took notes on what happened. Since it's being "returned to sender" I was worried the original buyer could say "it was returned, where's my refund?"
It's in the USPS tracking system now as return to sender. The second buyer has the patience and understanding of a saint. 😇

Has been posted here before.
Apparently, USPS will print from that QR code as many times as it is presented.
I have only used a QR code once at USPS just to test the waters in the event that I am unable to do my own label, or access someplace to do it in a timely manner.
After using the code, I deleted the image from my phone.

Question 1
I can see allowing the QR code to be used more than once.
Just like buying a label online ...... you can print it more than once (in case the label does not print right).
Question 2. No. Just what type of recourse would you expect ? It was not ebay's fault. It was not the buyers fault. It is yours for not using the correct QR code.
Question 3.
One tracking # will only show one result. I wonder if USPS will catch the error and charge you twice?
You need to give serious kudos to your first buyer who has to go out of their way to return the item to you so you can correct your mistake.

Your PO is the only one that can tell you why they printed the shipping label twice.
Looks like they would receive an error message if the label had already been printed.

QR codes can be printed twice.
QR codes can be dangerous for a seller with multiple packages, very easy to get them mixed up.
What you should do is ask the carrier to see the printed label and match that it's the correct address for that item.
I would never just show a code let them print it and put it on the package without ever seeing what they put on the package and validating it's correct label.
That's super risky.
