How can i withdraw from the auction because of too high shipping costs?

Hello,

i have one question about international shipping from USA. I recently bought two items from one seller,

each had a shipping cost 46 USA dollars. I asked beforhand if the shipping costs can be lowered and if combined shipping is possible. The anwser was that the shipping costs cannot be lowered but i didn t understood about combined postage - normally all the sellers combine postage...and i wrote that to the seller. I placed a bid and beelieved the shipping costs would be combined. I won two  items - one dress and leggins..and the seller wants me to pay shipping 46 dollars for each item - i also wasnt able to notice the size of the dress which is to big for me. My mistake. I asked if she can withdraw the auction, because of two reasons...and because i do not believe the shipping costs are actually that high - normally they are 17 - 19 dollars, but i believe she would not do it. Do i have any option...to resign from the auction..or is that just the sellers good will. I believe ebay has a policy of charging the actual costs...

Thank you for all the anwsers.

Best

You can REQUEST to cancel and explin your reasons, but the selelr is not obligated to honor the request.  Most will because they do not want to do the Unpaid Item Strike.

There is no such policy.

If the seller does not cancel and you choose not to pay, they can file that Unpaid Item Strike and if closed in their favor, it could limit your ability to bid on or buy other items.

No one can force you to pay however.

eBay has NO policy requiring the seller to charge the exact cost of POSTAGE. Shipping is not just the cost of postage, it also includes materials/supplies and handling. You should have asked about lower shipping before you bid. The seller isn’t required to cancel but you are required to pay. If he files unpaid item disputes you will find yourself blocked by most eBay sellers.

There is nothing more frustrating for the seller when a buyer asks to cancel an order. Some sellers are more acommadating than others. If they refuse to cancel, you are required to pay or you receive a "strike" on your account. In return, if a seller refuses a cancellation, the buyer can receive negative feedback.

Buyers can't receive negative feedback.

You asked if the seller would combine shipping and they replied 'NO'.  Why would you continue and bid after the seller had stated they do not combine shipping?  There is no requirement for any seller to do so and there is no policy regulating shipping charges.

You knew in advance what the shipping charges were, this is not the seller's fault.

Hello,

i asked many questions ...and said the shipping cost are to high for me...and asked if combined shipping is possible...the anwsers was.."combined with what?"...i clearly stated that i am interested in the things that i placed a bid on...and that if it is possible to send them together and ..normally you can add items and it is really a small amount of extra costs that you pay for a second item...and i really hadn t had a case when the seller refused. I have over 9 years of buying on ebay..and a 100% feedback. with 350 cases.never had a case like that...the seller has 12 cases and 100% feedback...very few as a seller.

The anwser with combined shipping was:

There is no way to ship internationally without paying for shipping and customs. - Understood.

If they are combined the weight of the items will increase the price the same.

Maybe my english isn t that good, but i understood that..as the price will stay the same (as you can assume with 50 dollars shipping if you add one leggins the actual  shippings costs do not double)...but as i can see now it can be read both ways..the shipping will increase and the price will also increase.

It is maybe my mistake, but i feel a bit mislead. I clearly stated that if the shipping costs would be doubled...i would be forced to resign from auction...but i got no reply...

So i really have no other option as to pay?...because if i sell something and if the shipping costs are lower than i stated in the auction (even if 2- 3 euros - because you cannot know until it gets weighted at the ost office) i normally return the costs via paypal...

Unfortunately you misunderstood what the seller said. I’m Not sure what you expected the seller to say when you told him you would be forced to resign? There’s really not much for the seller to say in response to that and it sounded like you were going to retract your bids. You didn’t ask him to cancel your bids so.....I don’t think you were misled at all. You made some mistakes, that’s all.

OP did ask. The seller said they would not lower the postage. Buyer bid anyway “assuming” the postage would be lowered anyway.

I see nothing wrong with your English. The seller said no, you bid anyway. You need to pay & consider it a lesson learned.

As for the size, that’s your fault too. I’m really sorry but you’re in the wrong here

How can i withdraw from the auction because of too high shipping costs?

Hello,

i said that it s  probably my fault and that i misunderstood it - because the anwser was the price the same -

i considered that the price will stay the same...based on my shipping policy (i also sell), and with experience with other sellers - almost everybody combines shipping...and with a bit of avoidant anwsers on my clearly stated questions...(didn t put all the conversation in). Thank you for anwsers though. Yes it s a lessoin learned. Best.

I’m sorry if you thought I was rude. I’m a tell it like it is person. I did not mean to sound rude at all. Just be sure of the terms of the sale next time.
If it makes you feel any better I once lost $50 shipping an item I sold here. I had no idea what shipping costs & I lost money. I do know how you feel. I always discount when I can. I just cut a deal with a buyer where I discounted the item & the shipping. She asked nicely so I did it. I need money so it makes me more willing to deal.

If you were not sure of anything you should not have placed a bid.  You are required to pay or take the consequences for your actions.
