How can I appeal an additional charge/adjustment from USPS on an eBay shipment?

Hi -- I'm accustomed to getting minor adjustments to shipping label costs related to small underpayments or overpayments.

But USPS just smacked me with a $40 upcharge on a package I shipped last week using eBay shipping.

eBay told me they can't help.  USPS - as every eBay seller knows - is impossible to reach, and there's nothing about this on USPS.com.

Has anyone found a way to dispute this kind of charge?

Thanks.

Thought there was a procedure to contest the charge right on the notice. Is that no longer there.

Yup, your beef is with USPS. eBay has  nothing to do with it. just comes through them

I believe there is a link in the message to file a protest.

I have protested a couple of them and had them reversed. When you file the protest you MUST include the information you originally used to make the label. Otherwise, just saying it us wrong will get you nothing. They need to know what to look for.

If the note came from eBay this is what you will find when you click the link "view cost adjustments"

If you think these adjustments are incorrect, you can contact USPS Customer Care at 1-844-819-5187 or verifypostagehelp@usps.gov to open a dispute. Make sure you have the IMPB and Revenue Assurance ID below to identify the adjustment. USPS will respond within 5-15 business days.

Now in all fairness I use Pirateship (not eBay) so my note came from them and the 'protest' button took me back to Pirateship and THEY filed the protest for me. I would guess that they have better contacts than we do.

When you appeal make sure to include the eBay item # with package size and weight plus your zipcode and the detination zipcode.

May I ask how long it took to get your refund. It’s been a week so far that I filed the dispute for USPS but have n’t heard from them yet!

I just got dinged with my first charge adjustment from UPS. Shipping cost was supposed to be 9.13 but I got hit with an $11.75 adjustment later. That turned my sale into a negative profit - like I paid the buyer to take the item! No idea how to open a dispute. With USPS there's a link. Which FedEx and UPS.. not. The package was a metal panel from the back of an appliance. Really light but also a long and narrow package. Like 24" x 7 x 1. Maybe weighed around a pound is all. I'm guessing the upcharge was for the odd size. Still, why isn't this figured into the cost shown in eBay when you enter the package data?? Really frustrated. Never would have used UPS if it didn't give me that low false price.

I also just received an unexpected USPS surcharge for "Service on label didn't match service used", for an item sent Media Mail to eBay's own International forwarding service. There's no link in the message I received on eBay, though there is an email address for USPS.

I have a feeling the problem is on the eBay side.

I got a chargeback from UPS through eBay shipping today.  An item that weighs maybe 1lb, we allotted 3lbs to be safe, and UPS is claiming 13 POUNDS!

if I go to the link in the email from eBay, it says “oops this page can’t be displayed”, but they’ve already charged me for extra cost.

called eBay and they told me to call UPS.  After holding for 2 hours they said they can’t help me because it was shipped using an eBay shipping account.

massively frustrating that eBay won’t even both to contest these fees for their customers, just pass them on without question.  There’s really nothing official from UPS either and it almost feels like theft at this point.

They usually allow you to do it on the shipping label . I ship with pirateship and I dispute all of them now . I was told by USPS that they will make person getting the pkg pay or send it back . $40 should have been returned to you . I would call your local post office and let them look at the tracking of that pkg . They can send you a statement if that pkg was changed .

Pirateship charged me for one that had not been changed.
