Long story short - I took an ebay labeled box to the post office today. It was scanned, then I decided not to mail it yet and took it home. Now, I would like to mail it tomorrow. Checking my sold items, I see that this item has departed the post office on its way to a destination.
What should I do???? I could try to void the label and do a new one or I could bring the box as is into the post office and have it scanned again???
Thanks.

You can't void it once it is scanned - you won't get your money back. I would take it back in tomorrow and drop it off.

Drop it in the collection bin at the post office.

Return to the post office with the box.

I should have mentioned that it is a $109 item that will be insured with shipsaver.
So, still take back with original label and do not get rescanned?

Drop it in the collection bin.

That was my first question: Why did the PO allow a scanned package to leave the PO? Sometimes I worry about leaving my package on the counter.
If they scanned it then it must have been in their possession. So did you ask for it back? And if so, did they give it to you?

The OP simply needs to take the package back to the PO and explain what happened. The counter staff should know how to best get it moving in the system. Dropping it in a collection bin would not be a good move. BTW some POs do not have a collection bin that will accept packages of a given size or are designated for first class mail - like ours.

I don't understand. Did you rip it out of their hands and run? They needed to void the scan if you changed your mind. Either way the label is used now.

How would they void a scan?

Okay - enquiring minds want to know.
i had some other packages to mail yesterday.
I wanted to insure that specific package and do it with shipsaver.
so, as normal, I did the package and then went to shipsaver to insure,
i was unable to log in - some problem - they say eBay, I don’t know.
had already printed out the label, so I thought that if it was $2 I would insure through the p.o. but, it was 2.70 and I thought that was too much for $100. However when I asked for the cost of insurance (told her that that was all I wanted to know), she scanned it.
the package is going to an apartment in Brooklyn to a person with 7 negative feedbacks I the last month. A new buyer who has been buying out the store in the last month or two. So, I thought I would get the shipsaver insurance for 79 cents or so for 99.99.
And, before someone says that you cannot leave negative feedback on a buyer - they left it as positive - then said bad things.
So, the item was rescanned and I’ll let you know if there are any problems.
p.s. This p.o is a satellite one - think that is what it is called. Also a small retail store.

I have been working for USPS for 18 years. I have had people bring items unboxed and with just the Flat Rate boxes and Ready Post available, informed them that if they go home and find another box it will save them 5 to 10 dollars in postage or purchase of a Ready Post box. But I have never had someone have the correct postage on a box then negate it by taking the package back after it was scanned in to maybe save .70 cents on insurance.
You can not void the postage label after it has been scanned in, and I do not think you can reship it with that label, but like I saidI've never heard of such a thing.
Most likely you will have to eat the first label and purchase a new one. As bad as this is whats worse is that the tracking given to the buyer has the number attached to the first label.

I don't understand how it can be "in transport" when there is nothing to transport. Since all packages are scanned at different times during their travels it would seem at some point this particular one would just disappear. How can it be moving when it isn't even there?
