Long story, short version. I have a buyer who bought items from me using two different accounts. Addresses are the the same but two different names on the accounts. I combined the items into one box and bought the ebay shipping label and shipped through UPS. After trying to enter the tracking number onto the second order I realized I had made a huge mistake as it would not accept a tracking number because it had already been used for another order. So there's no way I can prove I shipped the second order and no tracking to prove it was delivered. These were fairly expensive items.
I got to the UPS store too late in the day yesterday for it to go out that day, so the package is still there.
What should I do?...See if I can get the package back and fix my mistake by repackaging and shipping out two packages? Is there anything short of doing this to fix my mistake?
I already spoke to customer service and all they could tell me was to mark the item as shipped and basically hope for the best the buyer will confirm receipt of all items once delivered. I don't want to hound my buyer for this if I don't have to....half the time they won't respond anyway.

Yes if you can retrieve the package and ship to both buyers that is the best result. Unless you have contacted the buyer and they approve the combined shipping that is what i would do.
The buyer might be buying a gift for someone they do not want the other person to see. I would never combine shipping with out the approval of the buyers.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking, too. Luckily, I got the package back and am in the process of repackaging. Lesson learned.

Glad you were able to retrieve it, but they could have been 2 different buyers using the same Freight Forwarder address. There are also times where a buyer may buy 2 items, same name & address but different Guests IDs. You can't combine those either.

Yup, if it's not the same exact account there's no combining orders. Lesson learned the hard way. No FF involved. Just a buyer that bought multiple items and maxed out my my buyer purchasing limits and had to use multiple accounts (different members of her family) to complete getting everything she wanted. It's all good now and everything is on it's way....properly.
