Handling Times on a Multi-item order

Hello all,

I just received an order from a customer outside my country and they are using the Global Shipping Program. They had purchased a total of 3 items from me - 2 normal in-stock items and 1 pre-sale item. On the in-stock items I have a handling time of 1 business day and 30 business days on the pre-sale item since it doesn't release until October. What is my expected ship by date on this order? Usually going into Sell > Orders will give me a "Ship by XXX" date - but all it says is "Ready to Ship". Does eBay use the longest handling time and use that as an estamate for the buyer? Am I expected to ship the in-stock items first and the pre-sale item later? So many questions and any help would be great.

-Mike

Handling Times on a Multi-item order

My 'guess' it that you are expected to ship the 1 day shipping items first so if the buyer did pay for them all at once, you might have to cancel the one that can't be shipped now and have them purchase it separately.  As I said though, I'm just guessing so hopefully someone else will have more info.

The GSP does not allow combined orders.  Each purchase is a separate transaction and must be mailed separately.  So you mail the 2 ready-to-go packages now and then mail the pre-sale item in October.

Even if all the items are in stock, you still have to send each in an individual package.  Exception:  2 or more items from a multi-item listing can be sent together.

Hmm that's odd. I've shipped combined orders in the past when all the items were in stock. Even eBay shows the sale as combined and doesn't give me the option of printing individual labels for each item. See pic.

That might have been true when the gsp first started but  it hasn't been like that for at least a couple of years as long as the buyer uses the cart to make their purchase. The gsp also gives a combined shipping discount.

I placed a call into eBay and they said to wait and ship everything together. Also, I contacted the buyer to ensure they knew the order would be held until all items are ready and they were ok with that. So looks like eBay takes the item with the longest handling time into consideration when giving buyers an estimate.
