HELP with a potential Cheat: Refund after 30 days?

Buyer purchased an item from me on July 14 they received it on the 16th of July. They just emailed me that there is a problem with the batteries not working. They did not open case as not as described not a return request. Feedback score of 18 only 7 purchases made on 6 months all in same day. Can they still open a case against me on eBay. I know PayPal is 180 not worried about that just a defect from EBay. I have no problem refunding people I just am tired of the games that are being played. Thank you in advance for any advice.

They can open a return request with eBay BUT they cannot ask eBay to step in. If they open a request you should have the ability to decline it since it’s been past 30 days.
