The fine print say's it takes 24 hours to switch.

I changed mine this morning and it shows NO GD . Maybe there are so many op-outs that it takes a while to process all of them.

My question here is, why would something like that be on by default? Has eBay completely lost the plot???
Yes, let's put something like guaranteed delivery on by default so sellers geet stuck with it for 24 hours even if they opt out. How could that possibly go wrong? Sheesh!

Who knows, I've had enough with all the forced rules.

Ebay tried to make it volentary but so few people volunteered for it they made it the default in hopes that people wouldn't notice.
I opted out, and it took the full 24 hours to update.

Why is everyone opting out if Ebay says they will take responsibility for late deliveries?

Right now (kickonline), maybe nothing, but remember the fine print, "till the end of 2018" who knows what ebay will do after the end of the year. Til the end of the year ebay will pay buyers back if something goes wrong, as long as you played by their rules. Who knows what will happen in the new year, ebay may make us pay for the shipping in the end.
You are correct, I do not see a downside just yet. But knowing ebay, and I have been on ebay since 2001, there is ALWAYS a downside in the end. It never fails, their always "Great Ideas" have a price in the end. I will keep mine until I know what is going to happen next year.

OK, but I still don't see the downside .. I'm assuming you don't get sick more often than the next person. I personally don't remember the last time I was so incredibly sick that I couldn't pack and print a label on an item. If you had an emergency come up you could quickly just change your handling times in bulk (only takes a few seconds), therefore you'd be fine. And there's no penalty for Guaranteed Delivery sellers that don't ship on time other than being kicked out of the program (which opting out does anyway!).
So still not seeing the downside here.
Ebay agreed to pay until the end of 2018, then what happens...we pay? No thanks, can't afford that. Also, do not want to be on the phone trying to get a late defect removed all the time. Because very few get delivery in 3 days. I will not guarantee something I have no control over.

Because they cannot be trusted to take responsibility for them they have made such claims in the past that sellers would be "protected" and "covered" and then left sellers holding the bag and said haha too bad so sad.

I don't understand my anyone would stay opted in. There is no upside for the seller.
I opted out for 2 reasons.
Most sellers that had the TRS+ rating for shipping within 1 day dropped it on June 1st because we won't offer free returns for buyers remorse. If I am not getting the 10% discount I am not bending over backwards to get packages out next business day.
If Usps won't guarantee 3 day delivery neither can eBay. eBay claims they will remove any defects and negative feedback but it's not worth the hassle of having to call them and sit on hold for an hour to get it removed.
i will be interested to hear from sellers that stayed opted in a few months from now to see if there have been problems.
