Global shipping problem

I shipped an expensive item to Japan using eBay's global shipping, which is now lost.  Who will be refunding my buyer, eBay or me?  I was told not to worry and that eBay will take care of everything, but I was just sent a link to a claim form to fill out, with the maximum amount I can claim being $100.  That's less than a third of what the buyer paid.

Re: Global shipping problem

Which item was it?  If you have up to $100 insurance, then it was likely sent through ebay international standard delivery, not the gsp.  The only way to send through the gsp is if your listings are set up  that way already and your listings appear to be  set up using first class international.  You can change to ebay international when you go to print the label but not to the gsp.   Here is more information on ebay international..

Re: Global shipping problem

Your OP does not make it clear whether item was lost on way to GSP or after it left GSP on way to buyer.

I would have thought GSP will refund the buyer if item was lost between their hub and buyer.

In case of items lost in transit most postal service providers pay cost of item and not selling price.

Maximum amount of compensation may be different on different postal services and these are published on service providers website.

These service providers allow you to buy additional insurance to cover higher amount.

Claimant is expected to provide a purchase invoice showing how much they paid excluding any taxes.

Re: Global shipping problem

It made it to the shipping center in KY and was lost after that.

Re: Global shipping problem

You should be covered thru Global Shipping Program since they accepted item?

I had one lost going to England.  eBay told me buyer would have to wait until after estimated delivery date and then make a claim.  As soon as the Delivery Date past buyer made Item Not Received claim and was reimbursed same day.

It was only about $50 so I do not know if a higher value will be a more difficult claim.

Re: Global shipping problem

Perhaps some of there are set up to use the gsp but I checked a few of your active and sold listings and all of those were showing that you used usps, not global shipping to both Canada and the UK so you might might want to check your listings.  For example, if you look at item 124594257276 and in that listing change your location to the UK, you will see a choice of first class international or USPS international Priority.

Since you didn’t say which listing went missing I couldn’t check that one but thought perhaps that you used eBay standard international which often gets sent to KY first.

Re: Global shipping problem

Noted that item was confirmed delivered to GSP hub.

I assume an INR case was opened by buyer (Amount put on hold) and this case is now closed with a refund to buyer.

If GSP refunded then hold on payment would have been released.

If you refunded then amount on hold would have been used to refund the  buyer and  you receiving a claim form makes sense as item was lost in transit within USA.
