Hi all,

I have interest in a sword being auctioned. The seller is from Virginia, USA. Because there's a notice 'seller might not ship to the Philippines-contact seller,' - I contacted the seller is he/she was considering shipping to Manila. The seller's answer was "I only ship through the Global Shipping Program, and that I have to sign up got that program."

I've googled on this and it says than the seller(in the US) will ship the item to a specified location in the US and the people there will handle the customs, etc. and ship the item to the Philippines. Am I right on the dot on this one?

Do I need to sign up for the program? If there's a need - how do I go about it?

The GSP (global shipping program) allows sellers to ship pkgs to a US based location. From there, pkgs are shipped to international countries.

When you choose to use the GSP, all custom's fees, taxes, etc are pre-determined and charged to you, the buyer.

I do not know of buyers having to sign up for the GSP. I just know that if the seller does not opt in to it, then it won't allow the buyer to follow thru on the purchase.

The buyer does not sign up for the GSP. Only the seller. If the seller is using the Global Shipping Program, is your location listed as a country that the item ships to? Is your country excluded? If your country is excluded and there is no shipping rate when you click on the drop down menu to see your country and get a shipping rate, then the item does not ship to your location. Do not bid or buy.
