Global Shipping has STOLEN the item I have sold!!!!! I used "Global Shipping" to send a piece of jewelry to Canada. I believed this was the only way to do this, via the change in eBay's shipping page & policies. Tracking said the package made it to KY (Global Shipping address). Then I get an email stating my item was RESTRICTED - due to the Country or Global Shipping's rules AND THEY ARE KEEPING MY ITEM!!!!!! I made the usual umpteen calls to eBay. eBay can ONLY give me an address for Global. After googling, calling Erlanger KY's Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, County Business License Dept, etc., I have determined that the address of 1850 Airport Exchange Boulevard, #200, Erlanger, KY belongs to ONSTAFF SOLUTIONS - NOT a warehouse, NOT a shipping company. The number for that company is no longer in service. eBay has NO idea WHERE our packages process through!!!!!! I can't get them to understand that if my item is "RESTRICTED" that means that it is STILL in KY, so why do I NOT get it back????? Then I could mail it myself to the Buyer. NO ANSWER FROM EBAY other than to keep repeating that it's "restricted". THIS IS BEYOND WRONG, THAT EBAY HAS NO IDEA WHERE OUR ITEMS ARE BEING PROCESSED THROUGH!!!!!! I AM BEYOND ANGRY!!!!!
If anyone has answers, I'd so appreciate hearing from you. Thank you!

If the item mailed was on the restricted list it would not matter if you sent it by the GSP or mailed it yourself through USPS. It would be confiscated by customs. GPS has nothing to do with item restrictions. It is the shippers responsibility to make sure the item is not restricted before mailing it. It has probably been destroyed.
So very sorry. I understand how you feel. I learned the hard way as well. 😏

You will still be paid for your item and the buyer will be refunded by the gsp. When there is a problem forwarding an item from the gsp center they never ship the item back but neither the seller or buyer is out the money. I realize that it would be frustrating when it happens as the buyer wanted the product, not their money back.
The gsp does have someone else sell the item so that they can recover their money back so you might want to watch for it on ebay.

Out of curiosity, what was the item? The only thing I see that might be a problem coming to the Canada is the wood box. Its possible that it is more of a gsp 'rule' than a problem with the product entering Canada.

Found an eBay employee who admitted it's Pitney Bowes. I've called their main #, who told me to call Omaha NE (402) 339-6500. I am now on hold now. Will keep updating as I get new info.

Is it the cameo?
The gsp prohibits jewelry that...
Jewelry, gold or any other precious metals (whether manufactured or non-manufactured) that are subject to carrier and/or customs restrictions
Some cameos were made with shells or coral and I think that it is illegal to export or import some coral and shells. Since the gsp isn't an expert on all materials, they likely disallow all forms of cameos. You would think it would be easy for ebay not to allow a gsp listing to be set up for prohibited items but this isn't an uncommon occurrence.

This is my response to eBay's email giving me the "why" of why my item was "restricted". Next time I sell an "angel skin" cameo, I'll throw in some fava beans...…. Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Unless you or Pitney Bowes (now that I know that's who "global shipping" is) believes I am skinning angels, think about this!!!!! It is NOT animal skin. LOOK at the item!!!! READ the description!!!! "Angel Skin" has to do with the type/color of the material used!! If you and Pitney Bowes are picking and choosing specific words in a "title/grabber line" to transfer onto Custom's forms, than shame on you; you are both WRONG! Do NOT tell me it's a computer thing. There are a gazillion items bought/sold on eBay that include words in the "title/grabber line" that, on their own, might be an issue. If I were filling out a Custom's form for my item, the description would have been "jewelry", "pin & earrings", etc. Good thing my "black panther" statue didn't need to be sent globally. I might be accused of shipping live animals, animal pelts/skins, or dead black men (if you're not in the USA, you may not understand that comment). How about my "eagle head" bracelets? According to you, even the USA would be concerned that I'm selling EAGLE heads!!!!! What about the person who describes an extremely large piece of clothing as XXX - do they get stopped by countries because it's PORNOGRAPHY?
I have supported Pitney Bows since I began working in the early 1980s by purchasing many pieces of mail equipment over the decades. Have they gone daft? Does NEITHER company have a lick of sense???? There is NO WAY a title/grabber line should be what is used on Custom's forms. That is the most idiotic thing I've heard of.
I am requesting that my item be RETURNED TO ME - IMMEDIATELY - IN PERFECT CONDITION. If the US Postal Service, FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc. had a problem with delivery, the package would be RETURNED TO THE SENDER. I EXPECT NO LESS!!!!! I will then give my Buyer the first right of refusal. Should they want it, or if not, the next Buyer, I will mail the item (AND ALL MY SUBSEQUENT ITEMS) myself & bypass eBay's "global shipping".
I need to be contacted IMMEDIATELY about this item.
I am copying this message to the Pitney Bowes employee who, yesterday, kindly offered to help locate my item. For their purposes, I'm including the "global shipping" tracking #: UPAAC000000041370381 Please send me tracking info regarding the return of my item. (Should this item NOT be returned, I will ASSUME an employee has stolen it & that's NOT what I want to believe.)
Thank you all. I look forward to hearing from you and receiving my item back.

Hello PJ,
Thank you for getting in touch with eBay. I'm Amanda, a specialist with the Global Shipping Program (GSP), and am happy to address any concerns with you. I understand that the order was restricted from being sent internationally to your buyer. I appreciate your wanting to learn more about this situation so it can avoided going forward.
I know your time is valuable, so I looked into this carefully and found that the order could not be shipped internationally because it is restricted to be imported into their country by their customs laws. Items that may be an animal skin or animal product controlled under the Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, or requiring a permit under CITES are restricted for import and export. Please understand that our shipping partners need to abide by all customs laws and shipping regulations with carriers. Because of this unexpected issue, though, our shipping partners have refunded your customer out of our pocket. You'll be keeping the original payment made by the buyer and the order will not be returned to you.

Obviously they didn't really think the item was made of skin from endangered angels.
Many species of coral are now endangered. A quick google search shows that Angel Skin Coral is an endangered species of coral.
