First Class to Ground Advantage is a Time Consuming Change

I just manually revised 100 listings. You'd think with all the money that ebay rakes in, they could have found a way to bulk edit these things..

I just bulk edited my 150 (or so) that were First Class shipments. But it would've been nice if eBay had auto-done it...

Here's info you recently missed:

Ebay has already automatically changed any Parcel Select listings to Ground Advantage for you.

The reason why we have to manually do the First Class to Ground Advantage ourselves is because ONLY First Class Package is being integrated into Ground Advantage by the USPS. There is still First Class Letter and First Class Large Envelope/Flat that is NOT being integrated. Ebay doesn't know whether our listings to be shipped First Class are for packages or for FC Letter or FC Large Envelope/Flat. That is understandably up to us to determine and change if necessary.

Yes, it can be time consuming, depending on how it is being done. But it was a change that the USPS is responsible for, not eBay.

Cheers, Duffy

I bulk edited 550 listings yesterday in about 10 minutes. You must be doing it wrong.

Not for me. I embraced business policies when eBay suggested it.

and I don't use business policies as I don't want to be 'locked up' into one way or the other. I simply checked off the items I know ship 1st Class (less than 16 oz) and changed them. Then, all the items that shipped Priority that I know I have to use my own box anyway, to GA as well. (since I do Free Shipping, I can do that)

That's ebay's accepted explanation. The question is, why doesn't ebay know which listings are to be mailed via 1st class package? Before the current change there was not an option to select Letter and 1st class package as ONE shipping method. 1st class package/Letter/ Flat envelope were never integrated into one service. There was never an option just to select "1st Class". All my listing had always only one option : 1st class package, no letter no flat rate envelopes. So why is it the problem? It's now academic, we will all edit the listings as necessary, but at least we should be honest about the reason. Ebay is simply not up to certain tasks.

You can, I don't have to revise anything, it's just a name change that should be transparent to customers.

You can also bulk edit if you want to do something that the new service offers.

I haven't revised anything - my first class listings all say 'standard' now, which is fine. I'll fix my templates though.

I keep reading things like this.  People who refuse to use business policies because they are "locked into" a shipping setting must not really understand how they work.  I've been using business policies for several years now and have many different shipping policies that I can pick and chose from depending on the item.  They really aren't hard to set up and are extremely flexible.  When something like the new ground advantage comes up, having business policies are a major blessing.  I literally spent under 5 minutes updating 1000 of my listings to meet the new requirements by changing 2 of my business policies.

I don't "refuse"- I just don't want to 'change' things. Business Policies was NOT even available when I started selling here.

There were MANY threads about issues with BP when GTC came out (for instance). I, for one, was glad I wasn't using them.

I have 2 types of shipping. Under 16oz goes USPS 1st Class. Over goes Priority. Easy for me to look at my 'active' items, price lowest first, checkmark the entire page, partial on page 2 and then 'bulk edit' from 1st Class to GA, which is what i did.

Since I do 'free shipping' I also did some of the Priority Items, changing them to GA, since GA now works for larger items.

I think you might have missed my other reply @chapeau-noir

Your listings still say First Class. Any service classified 'standard' is prefaced with the word standard, but the actual service you chose is still there.

Item 266269453297

Shipping tab shows: Standard Shipping (USPS First Class®)

So you still have to make updates.

Just like Priority is classified as 'expedited' you'll see on those listings: Expedited Shipping  (USPS  Priority Mail)

@wastingtime101

My sister and I had this chat last night... thanks to you, I was right. Again. 🙌

She asked (but I had no answer) when/what would happen to her listings if she didn't comply. Label-buying issues??

ETA: Or does anybody know exactly what will happen yet? 😑

Did you read the discussion I put up yesterday @mtgraves7984 ?

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Shipping/Why-can-t-eBay-update-my-listings-with-First-Class-to-Ground/...

Depends whether your sister uses flat rates or calculated. If calculated she'll have issues. If flat she can probably skate for a while.

If you use Business Polices it takes minutes.
