I sell mostly small items, yet my shipping fees on average is $8.00 per item. Items wt. less than 3 oz. Ebay want nearly $4. 00 to ship off.  Ebay don't offer standard shipping on all items. If I mail an item under 3 oz. (For only 90 Cent), I cannot provide a tracking number in which Ebay requires. Yes, I can take a risk, however, that maybe more trouble.  Sold 6 items, net 117.00, after fess, ad fees, and shipping costs, net 48.00.

People will say, add a shipping cost the buyer pay. The problem with that, there are 5,000 other people selling the same items, offering free shipping.  Call ebay for suggestions, all they say is Pay more fees.  Fees, all about the fees, nothing but the fees.

Calling eBay for suggestions is a waste of time. You might consider looking for higher priced items to sell with better margins.  I know, easier said than done.

How can a 3 oz item cost you $8 to ship? It is not ebay that wants $4 to ship your item, it is the USPS.  Ebay does not require tracking numbers, you set your shipping rates, not ebay.

SO you sold 6 items for a total of $120. The fees in average are 15% (it includes postage fees), you are down to around $100. How much are your ad fees? 5%? So you are down to $95. And the shipping cost? The buyer pasy shipping, or you don't charge anything? An item below 8 oz can be mailed for $4.50, depending on your and buyer's location, 1st class package.

What, exactly, do you think eBay could possibly do about this? Waive fees for you? Yes, there are fees for selling on eBay. Yes, shipping costs money. Yes, some are selling what you are selling for less. So?

If you cannot sell what you have at a decent profit, stop doing that.

You are charging next to nothing for the items I scanned through off the bat with free shipping. Routers, sneakers, video camera viewfinder, a bunch of stuff in one listing "for parts"... you won't be making much money, if any, with free shipping (free for the buyer, not for you).

I think you need to reassess what you are selling and charge calculated shipping.

Just a suggestion: In your clothing listings include the size in the title as well as in the listing.

Otherwise, without ebay,  where would you be selling your stuff with as many sales as you have?
