Feedback from a Canadian on Global Shipping Program and eBay Send from a buyer's point of view

As a Canadian buying items on eBay Canada, I feel that providing some feedback to US sellers selling outside of US via eBay programs may be of some use. I repair computers for clients and sometimes I need to order parts to repair laptops and in the past have found that eBay was a source of these parts.

I have purchased items that use USPS shipping and been very satisfied with the shipping and delivery times. However, over the past month, I have purchased 2 items one via the Global Shipping Program and the second unknowingly one that was using eBay Send. The Global Shipping Program item introduced a 12 day delay in Erlanger KY and the tracking once it left the depot was non-existant. I had no idea where the item cleared customs. It could of been any of several ports of entry into Canada.  I had no idea if Canada Post even had the parcel. The item showed up a day after the last delivery day. The shipping charges was more than if the item was shipped via USPS.

The eBay Send item was shipped from ANAHEIM, CA on July 27th and eBay tracking still shows it sitting in Carson CA 3 weeks after the item was shipped! eBay customer service tells me that I may simply have to wait till Sept 21st for the item to show up as the item showed that it could take until Sept 21st to be delivered up here in Canada in a major metropolitan center. The shipping method seemed to indicate it was using USPS  and I was totally unaware of eBay Send and that the seller was using an eBay provided service until I purchased the item and got the tracking number which began with ES.

Again I paid a premium price to ship this item, more than via USPS which also has a shorter delivery time and that I may have to wait 2 months for the item to show up. This is the same amount of time that an item from China would take to be delivered in Canada!

Personally I will avoid the Global Shipping Program as it is currently a chokepoint introducing unwanted delays in delivery and the same goes for eBay Send. When I have a suspicion that a seller is using eBay Send.

There is way a client of mine would want to wait a month let alone 2 months for a part to show up to repair a laptop which is sometimes their only computer.

Just thought I would post this feedback from a buyer to alert the sellers here what the experience is from a buyer's point of view is north of the 49th parallel.
