Fedex "delivered" a package WITHOUT a signature that REQUIRED a signature... Seller won't refund.

So I bought an item over $750 and the seller sent it via FedEx Ground and required a signature (as they should since its over $750). I was home all day long with my door open and was even washing my car outside waiting for Fedex to come. I also have several cameras pointed at my door. Well Fedex says the item was delivered without a signature.... the delivery time was also when I was outside washing my car... I don't know how they managed to do this when a Signature was required for it. I've talked to several fedex workers and they can't explain it either, the driver clearly found a way around the system.

The seller is trying to stiff me, they were all understanding till I followed their request with starting a claim on eBay. Then they started lying through their teeth and trying to tell ebay it was a "confirmed" delivery and they have a "case opened with Fedex" ( I have a case opened with Fedex and they still don't know what happened and have no idea how this was "delivered without a signature"). The seller is clearly lying.

I also have a POLICE REPORT with the serial number of the item and the documentation from Fedex clearly showing on their tracking info that they "Left package on porch" even though it needed to be signed.

I know it says delivered... but a signature was required and Fedex never got one fir it and left it anyways. This is definitely a weird situation. I know other posts that have similar stories but I think this one is very unique and I'm worried that the seller is going to stiff me with this, especially since they seem to have a complete change of attitude and character towards the situation after I filled a claim of INR via eBay

Was this a super small laptop with no charger and no battery?  Average laptop packages are 7-9lbs for 14.1 - 15.6" with a small charger and the standard 5-6 cell battery.

A slightly larger charger weights 1lb itself, most batteries aren't far from from 1lb either, 9 cell extended batteries are slightly over 1lb.  Just a thought... I ship alot of laptops.

I'm a mail carrier. All of us, USPS, UPS, and FedEx are using covid protocols currently. Meaning that we are signing for you  as we can't let people handle our scanners.

The driver should have asked you if you would accept the package and then signed for it and left it with you.  So you say that they did not do this. What you need to do is request a GPS location of the scan and signature. My scanner at USPS is accurate to 4 feet, FedEx scanners should be about the same. Contact the FedEx location that serves your area and request a PRINT OUT of the scan, date, time and GPS location.

3lb and 17x12x4 inches…

what’s strange is he created 4 shipping labels and only one was for the laptop.

So I’m looking at 4 tracking numbers and only one is used for my package. Makes me think he was doing something with these shipping labels… like why did he have to create 4 of them.

FedEx does not bill for a label until it is shipped, then FedEx adds the actual weight and dimensions on tracking. A shipper can create as many labels as desired, since there's no charge for any which aren't actually used.

So your "seller" shipped 3 lbs of e.g. magazines to another address in your city (FedEx and UPS tracking don't show zip codes) and left on the porch.

So in addition to the incomplete delivery as the required signature was not obtained, you now know that it's not your item because of the weight.

Calm down.

Relax.

Postal workers are under stressful conditions.

Give it a day or 2 and you'll see your package

(it could be on your neighbor's porch)

Stop with the phone calls and blame game.

Relax what else you gonna do?

It’s been over a week. And I’ve knocked on everyone’s door on my street looking for it. FedEx told me they have no idea how the package was delivered without a signature and cannot locate it. It’s either lost or stolen.

They can’t locate it in anyway shape or form. It’s been over a week as well, it’s gone ( if it was ever actually shipped). eBay reps think I’ve been scammed they tell me.

Ups is taking signatures again, my driver had me sign instead of signing for me for the first time in awhile last week.  Said he's allowed to hand over the device for signatures, finally.   Fed ex left a $500 monitor on my porch 2 weeks ago that was signature required, it was even in the actual monitor box so you knew exactly what it was.   This is why I have a doorbell camera, check out the toucan model.  It's a cheaper version of Ring with a decent app and great picture.

I can't say you didn't order a 3.x lb laptop, it could of been a Chromebook which packaged lightly could, maybe, possibly,  be in that weight range.  If you mention the size or even exact model I can give you more info, you can even Google the model for it's exact weight then include another 1.5lb for charger/packaging/box.

So what’s going on now with the case? We’re you refunded? Did you or the seller get a tracking location of the drop off? This is why door bell cameras are important.

eBay rules are very clear about this.

If an item is $750 or over it needs to be sent with signature.

If there is no signature, then you didn't recieve it.

Sure seller has a complete change of attitude. They are going to lose $750

However, seller did send it with a signature. It just wasn’t signed by the buyer.

Update on Signature Request packages show, FedEx delivery person doesn't have to have a physical signature on file anymore, receiver could ask the delivery person for a no-contact verification by Fedex delivery person marking the signature of "C19" with no other names or any other indications of the person receiving the package

But this package has been misdelivered, even if Seller requested a signature. This case is a clear-cut Seller's agent fault. Seller pays for Buyer's damages. Seller could file a lawsuit against Seller's agent, Fedex, and seek remedy

So the only remedy for all parties of a high value delivery is insurance nowadays

I wonder sometimes how much of the following goes on. About 6 years ago ordered an X Box for grandsons. Delivery delayed and this drug out for several days. Called the local UPS facility and the national one also multiple times. Package gone forever. Company who sold me the X Box sent another which I did receive.

Found out the following week that UPS had hired extra help for the Xmas holidays. The UPS truck was found stuck in the mud about 8 miles east of me on a dirt road. Abandoned and with packages missing. So being a cynic I suspect the part time help was doing his Xmas shopping on someone else's dime.

USPS, we can't leave a broken down vehicle until someone comes and takes custody of the mail.

Does tracking show that a signature was received?  Ive had FedEx and UPS actually "fake" a signature, claiming the package was signed for using the initials of whomever it was addressed to.
