Fedex overcharging my shipment

My fear came true.  The low Fedex shipping fee with ebay is a trap to overcharge me after shipping my package.  I shipped a package weighing seven pounds.   I used a scale to make sure.  The box was a standard 17x11x11 inches.  Ebay quoted me $14.95 via Fedex.  Several weeks later I see I am being charged $19.58 instead.  Looking at the details I see my package was being billed at 13 pounds.  Something is not right.  When I tried to create another label for the same package but at 13 pounds the quoted Fedex fee was only a few cents more and not five dollars more.  When I changed the box dimensions to 18x12x12 inches the price only went up to $15.36.    That's like a $5 hidden charge after the fact.

I don't know who to bring this issue to.  What's the point of showing me a lower shipping fee when in fact I'll be billed something higher?   I could've chosen via USPS instead.  I won't be choosing Fedex ebay again.

Experiences like yours are why I don't use FedEx.

eBay doesn't include "surcharges and fees" in the amount they quote for FedEx labels. They also have a problem (off and on, it seems) with "dimensional weights" (or "billable weights") for their quotes.

From your package dimensions, it sounds very much like you got snagged by the latter.

In most cases, you can send up to 1 cubic foot of space, or 1,728 cubic inches before getting hit with dimensional weight pricing. Your 17x11x11 package is 2057 cubic inches, so that explains why the higher charge than you were quoted by eBay. 

It doesn't explain why eBay is unable to take these into account when quoting the label costs (sometimes), but I'm pretty well convinced this is what happened to you with the final charges.

Does anybody know if there is a class act lawsuit against E-bay for allowing FedEx to overcharge I would like to join E-Bay didn't rob the bank but they held the bag Guilty.
