Fedex Charging Additional Shipping Charges

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience or advise on how to handle Fedex's extra shipping costs? For months now we have been observing discrepancies between what we anticipate to pay for Fedex labels and what we are actually charged on our invoice (Keep in mind that we weigh and measure the packages after they have been packed so our dimensions and package weight are spot on). Fedex will charge us anywhere from 10% to 30% more than the cost of the label, in a few instances I remember being charged 50% more, we have also had duplicate charges show up on different invoices. We have called Ebay in the past several times to file disputes with Fedex, the result has been the same. They detail all the disputed charges and say they will submit the claim to Fedex, and if Fedex feels they have made a mistake they will credit us on our next invoice, which has yet to happen. How are they able to get away with this unchecked? We typically try to avoid using them but shipping large packages with them is more often cheaper than USPS, and if we go to the Fedex store to purchase the label in person vs. utilizing the Ebay discount we end up paying way more.

Have to agree with you on that, only use USPS, Ebay absolutely will not do anything for you when overcharged by FedEx. I shipped a parcel with Fedex that was 18" x 14" x 1" some time ago, the EBay estimated was $13.80; charge came in on monthly statement as 142.29. Ebay claimed over and over again over a 5 month period that they were addressing this with FedEx, but alas they just got nothing done. So if you think a slight upcharge for measurements or weight is bad, wait until you get  an upcharge like this, and there are plenty of people complaining of the same issue. And I might add, on my personal experiences,  that FedEx has yet to place a parcel on my porch, they always toss it from about 6 feet away. USPS driver is fabulous and I have never had an issue with cost changing on my shipments.

As a mail carrier I'll say a 6' toss will not damage a properly packed item, the machines drop them into bins from about that height. I once was expecting a cell phone from Verizon. They noted that I would have to sign. It was my then teen daughters phone that was being replaced and she was going with friends to see Korn (her first concert without me to take her), I needed her to have that phone.

We were stuck at home waiting for three days total on the item. FedEx didn't even come up our dead end lane. I called and raised holy ____ . The manager at the terminal claimed there wasn't enough volume to send a truck to my area. I called Verizon. 2 hours later I was in the house, she was at the barn and saw a beat up little black pick-up fly up the road swing into the drive and reverse in front of the garage and fly back down the lane. I had been making a rack for cans for our pantry and there was sawdust on the garage floor. This is where I found the box with the cell phone. It was thrown so hard it slid through the sawdust hitting the back wall and bouncing to rest about a foot away from the wall. I took pictures and showed them at the Verizon store.
