FedEx label won't scan at drop-off?

I tried to drop off a FedEx shipment today at my local dollar general, and the label would not scan.

The label has some "USPS" reference on it, but I double-checked, I did purchase FedEx, but oddly no mention of FedEx on the label?

What am I missing?

Comes back as FedEx - says "Manifest" in the Shipping Details Column.

Yes, that tracks as a Fedex number. It shows as label created. Most likely, it will get scanned when it is picked up by Fedex.

Was the printing nice and crisp on the label?  No smudges or skipped ink in the barcode?

What kind of printer do you have? I had to change from a ink jet to a laser printer.

I use a LaserJet. I print plenty of labels, this one looks fine.

The girl at Dollar General said it wouldn't accept the code when she scanned it.

Curious there was no FedEx branding on the label.

Says FedEx Smart Post - does that mean I should be dropping it off at the USPS office? I know sometimes USPS will take a FedEx last leg of travel...do they also intake?

No, that means that FedEx will be handing it off to the USPS for the final delivery.

I dropped something off today that wouldn't scan either. The person made a hand written receipt for me.

OK - here's an update.

I was dropping a few other packages off at USPS...and figured I'd ask about this "FedEx" tracking number...clearly labeled USPS.

They guy basically said, if it has a USPS tracking number, we take it.

He scanned it in...

So - not sure what happened here?

It seems like despite purchasing FedEx service (I'm certain of this - indicated in my Shipping Labels tab) - I was sold a oddball USPS that I think might have been "Parcel Select."

Might have been inadvisable to put it in the system, but off it goes!

As I said before, it's a FedEx SmartPost tracking number, and you can track it on FedEx. 

It won't show up on the USPS tracking until either 

1. It's scanned by FedEx for the first time, 
2. or it is received at USPS for delivery.

Like I said, No go at FedEx...this label would not scan.

And look at my picture upthread...says USPS.

But this label does not look like a FedEx label or USPS Label.

Sigh. FedEx scanned it yesterday. Now it is showing tracking ON FEDEX, as I thought it would.

And, the USPS now has tracking for it as well. Expected delivery on Friday. Exactly as expected for FedEx SmartPost.

What you seem to be missing is - this package WOULD NOT SCAN  at my FedEx drop off.

I took it to my USPS Office - where the clerk looked at the label, and scanned it into the USPS System.

It traveled 2 hours northeast via USPS to Lancaster PA - and still seems to be in the USPS System.

Not sure why FedEx shows tracking - or if they will ever be involved.

So - this is NOT how Smart Post is supposed to work.
