FedEx is the Worst!

I have been selling consistently on Ebay for over 9 years - This was the second claim I've ever filed, the first one with FedEx.  I sold something and insured it for $500, sold for $600.  The buyer, 1k+ positive feedback, received the item broken - took pictures and said the package was crushed/looked like something big fell on it.  Just the outer case of the product was busted so it would need to be replaced.  I filed for $120, cost of shipping both ways and replacement case.  FedEx stated my package was not adequately prepared or packed.  Get the heck out of here!  I spent 30 minutes packing that item and have a shed full of every packing supply.  I promise you it was packed perfectly and it took SOME force to break the case of the item.  Complete **bleep**.  What a nightmare it has been and now I'm out shipping costs, time, and my item is damaged.  I will drive the extra 5 minutes from now on and solely use UPS/USPS.  What a complete joke.  Seems like this is a common occurrence with FedEx, what did I pay insurance for if they can just deny my claim with a complete lie?

No, what would that do?  You mean go to the FedEx I use and ask to talk to them?  What do I say?  I'm guessing it wasn't their fault, they scan and someone picks the packages up....it's just extremely frustrating.

Sorry to hear that ...but these days it is refreshing to hear someone not complaining about USPS.

FWIW, around 2000 I interviewed with FedEx at the local terminal and they gave everyone a tour up front of the place (so people would wash out before being hired, I would imagine).   It's a fast paced stack 'em tight deal with package conveyors running up to 15 feet in the air.  If one jams up, a pole is used to break it up, if necessary knocking an offending package off the conveyors.  Handlers do not have time to consider what they stack, a truck is just loaded up like a Tetris puzzle and off it goes.  So if my 50 lb intake manifold is on top of your 5 lb super delicate bird house, nobody knows or cares really, the heavy box is chucked on top and down the road it goes with every bump shaking it again. 


Now I don't imagine USPS is a whole lot different, but the bottom line is you really have to pack stuff like it's going to be next to a land mine explosion.  I used to ship old radios and they'd get double boxed with padding between. 

Knock on wood I never had an issue with FedEx but I only use it for fairly heavy or large packages where the rate is typically better.

They also cheat you on their shipping rates!!!!

I would be very careful using FedEx to ship anything! I put in correct weight and measurements and the shipping amount you see on the screen is way less than what they charge you...its a scam! Package weighs 3 lbs 6 ozs, so I use 4 lbs. Measures 13-1/2" x 14-1/4 x 10-1/2 so I measure 14x15x11. Check your invoices for the month you mail and the month after, they have been coming back later and adding a second shipping fee! I wondered how they were shipping so much cheaper than the Post Office! They aren't they are just making it look like they are. Ebay has no answers and try calling Fed Ex...the time is wasted!

I am truly learning today that FedEx shipping is an Absolute waste of time and money!  Never will I pay extra for them again!  They are the worst and most expensive shipping in the United States!
