The eBay label page seems to default to "FedEx Home Delivery" with no option to change it to simply "FedEx Ground". The delivery address I was provided by eBay is "so-and-so at such-and-such company", so I see no reason to pay the extra $3.26 residential surcharge for an item not going to a residence.
Am I simply missing something in the purchase settings? The shipping option I chose at listing was for "ground OR home", so I'm pretty sure there must be a way to change it, but I'm darned if I can find it.

OK so the issue is clearly eBay's system distinguishing between a residential and commercial address, i.e. lacking the ability to do so.
Haven't been on the print screen of Fedex in a while... Is there not a "this is a residential address" check box? In this case, the ability to leave it unchecked.

What service does (did) your buyer see and pay (paid) for?

I thought they are same, right?

No. Fedex Ground is intended for commercial and Fedex Home is intended for residential. The delivery days and rates are different too.

Fedex often uses a different truck for each and I have received packages from both in the same day. Home delivery often costs a bit more too. UPS often used to ask if it was a business address or a home too.

Another huge difference is that Fedex Ground is 100% contracted out. You can buy your own Fedex Ground route, hire drivers, etc.

Exactly the same as the listing permitted - "Standard Shipping FedEx Ground or Home"

This is something I wasn't aware of, but it certainly explains why my regular FedEx Home deliveries from Chewy are brought by some guy in a Budget rent-a-truck!
(good information to have - thank you)

I think it may be just Ground but it may be Home delivery too. I worked with a guy that had a side hustle; he owned 3 or 4 Ground routes in Alaska, which is why I know this. From what he said, it's a total PITA. Your trucks break down, your workers call in sick, it's like a full time job and he already had a full time job.
Chewy boxes are GREAT for shipping BTW. They are always in good shape and good quality sturdy boxes.
