I have lately been using FedEx Express 2-day one rate small box at a rate of $13-$14. My understanding was if you use the provided small box and it is under 50lbs you will not be charged more for weight.
Over a month after shipping these, I've now been overcharged about $40 from 4 different shipments after the fact from "weight adjustments" on these shipments. Called in to try to dispute to FedEx and they are only open business hours for disputes. I'm totally aghast at this experience and feel as if I have been severely mislead. Honestly quite upset and feel as though FedEx is ripping me off.
One Rate is the same as "flat rate" right? I'm beyond upset and considering never using FedEx again. If this is not an isolated experience I highly suggest never shipping with them, or you might be charged absurd amounts afterwards for "weight adjustments" even though there is no weight considered under 50lbs according to the terms.
What the hell, FedEx. One rate or by weight? It seems fraudulent of them.

Your understanding of how it works is correct. Actually you don't even have to use the FedEx boxes through eBay as their deal with One Rate is different than you'll find at retail.

I don't know why you were charged adjustments for weight, but you cannot dispute with FedEx directly since the labels were purchased through eBay's FedEx account. You need to contact eBay customer service and have them dispute the adjustments for you.
You definitely used the One Rate label service and didn't accidentally select something different like Ground? You can check the cost adjustment details just to make sure.
Assuming you purchased the correct service then contact eBay CS to dispute.

I was already told by multiple ebay support reps that I cannot dispute the additional shipping charges through them and must dispute through fedex on a weekday. That's just what they told me and I'm really hating this process.
I just got charged another $14 retroactively for one of these exact same labels. Now the total is 5 labels and over $50.
Losing my mind with this FedEx nonsense. Is no one at the wheel at FedEx? Seems like a brain-off organization in general.

Send a DM to one of eBay's social CS teams: ebay on facebook, ebayforsellers on insta, askebay on X
Include a list of each tracking number.

Assuming you purchased your label on eBay,
I'd try contacting eBay on facebook. eBay | Facebook
You should be able to dispute UPS and Fedex adjustments that are over $10.

Step #1 - don't use FedEx, ever/ Step #2 if you do it anyway take photographs of the boxes and use a tape measure for each to show actual dimensions.
