Fed ex shipping label thru ebay... billing is way higher than originally stated!!

when shipped fed ex quoted $88.   then they bill a few days later and debit your account for $345. !! had "misc. surchage...$170.  " misc. surcharge 2" $120. "fuel surcharge" $45.  does anyone know how to find account# ?

they wont talk to you in person....real scammers!   check your billing for labels if you use them...beware...

I've read warnings about fedex calculations being off but man.  I'm so sorry, that's horrible.  I've been lucky so far but I'm guessing cause I haven't tried to ship anything as large as this.  5 for 5 with no additional charges.

Sorry this is happening to you. Hopefully someone who will be along who has had experience with a similar case.

Assuming that weight and package dimensions were entered correctly, what often happens in cases like yours is that your package happened to be sitting on top of a large, heavy box that was being weighed and laser measured as it goes down a conveyer belt. Your label gets scanned and the combined weight and dimensions get tied to your label.

I do not ship anything via UPS or Fedex using ebay shipping because when something like this happens, fedex or ups won't talk to me because I'm not their customer (ebay is).   eBay needs to have a way to deal with cases like this (maybe they do?).

I haven't seen a "misc. surcharge" label before - usually they state a specific reason for the surcharge.

The most likely reason for at least one of those surcharges is dimensional weight:

Was your item in a plain rectangular box without any plastic wrapping?

There are so many variables that can result in surcharges with UPS and FedEx.

There's a warning on the page before you purchase a FedEx label through eBay that the rate is an estimate and you may be assessed additional fees after the package is shipped and billed.
