First time using Fedex on a package rather than Post office with Ebay and I'm not a happy seller/
I shipped a figurine valued at $60 with shipping cost of $12.41 and the buyer notified me that it came broken. I told her I need ed a picture of the damage and the box it came with with wrappings. She sent 1 picture of the broken figurine and said she threw out the box.I send all info I had to Fedex with their form and got a note back saying they needed a better picture of the order for value. No mention of no packaging, I sent the requested picture and this time Fedex asked for a photo of the package. I explained to was 2 weeks since the s=damage arrived and she threw out the packaging but it was well wrapped and obviously manhandled. Sorry for the inconvenience was their answer, WOW I'll go back to the post office. was I supposed to manufacture the packaging and lie. to get my $60 back and postage? I'd be happy with just the postage back instead of them making me feel like I was perpetrating a fraud. And I refunded the Buyer in total.

FEDEX Ground is about the worst carrier to use to ship a package which was not adequately packaged.
Man-handling occurs with all carriers but FEDEX Ground has been the worst since before FEDEX bought RPS and renamed it.
If your order was not double boxed, with adequate padding inside the inner box and between the inner and outer boxes, it should not have been expected to survive.
It is likely that even if your buyer kept the packaging, you would not have collected on an insurance claim.
IMO USPS is very frequently the most gentle carrier, but they also refuse many of the damage claims they receive because of poor packaging.
It looks like much of what you sell does not require bulletproofing, so although taking this loss hurts, it should not mean you need to retrain yourself in packing.
