Does anyone have experience shipping an item sold on eBay using eBay's Label Purchasing platform and an USPS Priority Mail Box 7 (Large Mailing Box, 12 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 8 1/2")?
If so, can you advise how to select the correct packaging option on the eBay Label Purchasing platform?
I want to use the USPS Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Box packaging option at check out. However, the dimensions of that box are different than Box 7. Please advise.

You have to click USPS Priority calculated shipping and enter the dimensions and weight. All calculated shipping USPS and others you round up the dimensions. So your box would be 13X13X9.
USPS Priority Flat shipping rates can not be used on any other boxes that are not marked for that service.

If the USPS box doesnt say "flat Rate" you can not use "flat rate" shipping.
Box 7 is not "flat rate" and will be Priority with calculated shipping.

That box 07 is not flat rate nor Regional rate packaging, so you pay the regular basic Priority Mail rates based on dimensions, weight, and distance.
USPS rounds dimensions off to the nearest inch, so enter the dimensions as 12x12x9. Precision doesn't matter much in this case since the dimensions affect the postage cost only if the total volume of the box is more than one cubic foot (1728 cubic inches).

For the record, I find that for under 3 lb. items, the price of shipping for box #7 is less than FR boxes.

That's true. The current online price for a Medium flat rate box is lower than the regular online Priority Mail postage cost if you're shipping
3 pounds to Zone 7 or 8
4 pounds to Zone 6
7 pounds to Zone 5
12 pounds to Zone 4
15 pounds to Zone 3
18 pounds (!) to Zone 1&2

That is an old 'regional box C' which is no longer used (was a flat rate). As others have stated, it's now just a 'weight & size' box.

I think you're mistaken. The old regional C box was 15 x 12 x 12:
Priority Mail Regional Rate Box C (15″ x 12″ x 12″) has maximum weight limit of 25lbs.
The number 7 box is this 12 x 12.25 x 8.5. It's closest FR box is the LFRB which measures 12 x 12.25 x 6.

That depends on what part of the country you live in. What the break in weight might be regular priority versus flat does not apply across the country, especially considering that the flat rate large box is not the same dimensions as the #7.
This requires a couple of minutes of research on the USPS site for sellers. It is time well spent.

But to the original post. If using the #7 box all that is needed is input the dimensions of the box and the weight of the item including packaging and the box. Done.

If using a #7 no need to enter dimensions. It's under the USPS dimensional weight cutoff. Those dimensions are often inside size but outside is actually 13x13x9 (1521 cubic inches) which is also under the cutoff.

Just run a marker over the "C" info.
