Re: Envelope bubblewraps

You don't have to put packing dimensions for bubble mailers. That is only for boxes...

Re: Envelope bubblewraps

Yes, go with 1 or more if you want.

The envelope does have 3 dimensions - it's just that the manufacturers don't usually list the height.

Re: Envelope bubblewraps

So the only thing you add is the weight of the package on the shipping label?

Incorrect.

The thickness of an envelope can be a determining factor in whether the envelope is mailed as a First Class Letter, Flat or Parcel.

Use a tape measure or ruler to measure the thickness of the envelope with the item in it.

Re: Envelope bubblewraps

I would probably use calipers for an accurate measurement.

Why? eBay only allows whole numbers.

Re: Envelope bubblewraps

You only need dimensions if you have a box that's larger than 12x12x12, or has one side at least 12 inches long.  This is to properly calculate dimensional weight, if applicable.  You don't need dimensions for anything smaller and can safely leave those boxes blank.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

I'm thinking of the USPS and not eBay.  The purpose of checking the thickness is to make sure that the package meets the requirements of a parcel (package) by USPS definition.

That is only true for USPS shipments - USPS is the only carrier with a blanket 1728 in³ threshold. All FedEx and UPS packaged are subject to dimensional weight.

A 12 x 12 x 6 bubble mailer shipped via FedEx Smartpost would ship at 7lb dimensional weight currently, and a 6lb dim weight when eBay gets the calculator fixed. FedEx Ground would ship at a 6lb Dim Weight (and could incur a $12 Additional Handling Charge for not being in a box)

You may be trying to keep it simple with USPS rules only for OP, but it's better to get in the habit of being meticulous all the time to not get bitten later if additional shipping services are added, or a listing is created from a sell similar down the road with a new shipping choice added.

Re: Envelope bubblewraps

Bubble Mailers are considered a parcel and not a envelope. If you are using Ebay or Paypal to create and print your shipping labels via USPS all you need to do is drop the weight box down and enter in the  weight of the mailer. The cost will come up and just print it. I have been doing this for years. Dimensions on Bubble Mailers are not a requirement.
