I only ever had one question about this but cant get any help anywhere, so i came here. So here it goes:
I purchased a video game from a seller in Japan (I'm in the united states). According to Ebay, my package has made its way to my local postal office. My question is this: How in the world would Ebay know that if I cant even track my package online on any website???? I'm not kidding. I tried every website I can think of to track my package. I tried the USPS, I tried Japan Post (Japans postal service), I tried DHL, UPS, FED EX.... I tried it all. Yet not one website can find any information on where my package is. So how is Ebay able to find this information if no one else can??? What sorcery is this??

i tried google, I know the only thing i havent tried was Amazon (joke). I just think its strange that ebay can tell me my package is now out for delivery *as of the time of this reply, yet Japan Post doesnt know anything, Google doesnt know anything, USPS doesnt know anything.... I only managed to find one Website that could tell me ANYTHING, and that website said my package was delivered in Leipzig Germany just 2 days after the Tracking number was generated in Japan. Wait, First off, why is my package going to Germany when im in usa? And how can it possibly get there so quickly? In all fairness Im sure that an actual tracking number was not provided, but then how is ebay keeping tabs on it when i cant?? UN010310727JP is the tracking number.

uuuuuuuhhhhhhh that's a really good question. Ebay now says its out for delivery (i gotta see this). the point is that if my package cant actually be tracked with the number i got, then how would ebay know where my package is? ill keep you posted

Please do. Personally, I try not to question the madness behind the method. Fingers crossed...

I'd be interested in seeing a screenshot of the information showing it in the US.

IM HOLDING THE PACKAGE IN MY HAND RIGHT NOW. This confirms that Ebay was in fact able to keep tabs on it

These Uxnnnnnnnnnxx packages are actually always scanned by USPS but their tracking page shows "Not Trackable" because USPS wants overseas senders to use the more expensive "actually tracked" services instead of getting tracking for free. Not sure if this is true for all sending countries or only some, though (my experiences are for FI => US).
Occasionally some of my untracked U packages to U.S. slip through and actually show up properly in USPS tracking for a few days but then suddenly switch to the "Not Trackable" message before delivery.
So it seems like in your case eBay is somehow seeing the tracking events that USPS is blocking. I wonder if they somehow negotiated that or if it is a mistake in USPS's part.
And also whether this applies to all packages or if your package glitched out...
