Ebay's U.S Post Office charge does not coincide w/ latest U.S. Post Officce Chart. Why?

Just tried to print a shipping label thru eBay.

Postage being charged by eBay is more $$$ why?

I have the latest U.S. Post Office price chart.
This same zone and weight is $2.00 LESS than what eBay is quoting me and will charge.

Why is that?

Thanks...

Sue

Priority Mail?  Online is Commercial Pricing which is always less than Retail Pricing.

Parcel Select?  Not available through Retail Pricing.

Retail Ground?  May sometimes be less than online Parcel Select pricing - for Zones 5+ when dimension weight comes into play

First Class?  Always less through eBay than through USPS Counter.

The published rates verify this so I don't understand what you're seeing to make you think there is an error.

We can probably help if you provide specific details, including package weight and dimensions, service used (e.g., First Class? Priority Mail?), both ZIP Codes, and both exact prices.

Okay. Have noticed that MOST of the time the pricing is better when purchased thru eBAy. However, yes, I was referring to the Parcel Ground pricing. My item was listed w/ economy shipping. eBay's price for Ground shipping was MORE than my, up-to-date chart showed. It felt like eBay was "pushing me", so to speak to go Priority Mail. However, some of us are on a budget in life. And, $2.00 more for shipping doesn't leave much for profit. (my opinion). It does, for whatever it's worth, sometimes make me "re-think" if selling on eBay is worth it, when you look at the insertion fees, the 10% eBay TAKE, and, then, if shipping is higher, not to mention PayPal.... well, it does make one wonder. We'll see how all of this pans out. Thanks for replying.

Dies your ‘up to date’ chart  allow you to specify the dimensions of the package?  If not, that can make a difference if your package is big enough to be charged for dimensional shipping.

There is no service called Parcel Ground. There is online Parcel Select and retail at the PO counter USPS Retail Ground (correct terminology is important to figure out what your issue is - counter prices vs online, or base chart prices where dimensional weight was ignored)

It sounds like you are ignoring the concept of dimensional weight entirely, which will be fatal when shipping larger pkgs. Any USPS Priority Express Mail, Priority Mail, or Parcel Select pkg over 1728 in³ in volume will ship at the dimensional weight (LxWxH/166 and rounded up) or the actual weight, whichever is greater.

There is no conspiracy here - this is a known oddity of USPS pricing as a result of the USPS changes that went into effect 6/23/19, and has been hashed over in these forums dozens of times.

USPS Retail Ground at the PO counter does not care about dimensional weight (but there are zone/content limitations), online Parcel Select does calculate billable weight based on dimensions.

Large pkgs can be shipped at the PO counter via USPS Retail Ground for less than the online Parcel Select price if going to zones 1-5 (or also to zones 1-4 if HAZMAT or live animals).
