Ebay Return Labels

I accepted a return from a buyer and used the ebay return label which was $6.52.  When the packaged returned to me the post office wanted $69 more!!!.  I contacted eBay and they said that they won't do anything.  I did not put any weight or dimensions on the listing page and the eBay program just came up with some erroneous number.  There is nothing on their website about it being an estimate or them shipping COD.  The post office says I either refuse the package or pay for postage. What can I do if anything.  Ebay should make it clear that their return labels are merely suggestions - not for real.  I asked them for a credit given how tough things are for sellers right now. Nada. Nope.  Even though they said the shipping would be $6.52.  Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you buy the label for the original shipping from eBay?

If your original listing does not have a weight over 1 pound, then eBay will issue a First Class Return Service label, rather than a Priority Mail Return Service label.  If you have a First Class Return Label on a Priority Mail package, then some postal clerks will flag it with improper postage and attempt to charge you the difference.

You can go in and talk with the postmaster to see if he/she will give you some mercy ... I'm pretty sure that eBay pays "per piece" flat rates for these return labels, and so I don't think the actual price difference between the two services is much more than $5.
