Ebay International Shipping Program

Lately I have had problem after problem with Ebay International Shipping.  I sell mostly vintage clothing and military items.  Australia is the new problem child.  My buyers have been having trouble buying WWII items, these are not prohibited items mind you.  A canvas bag etc.  There must be a new algorithm or something.  Next problem is that there is no possible way to track these items once they get to the hub.  I've had several items completely disappear from the face of the earth once they get to the hub, and who knows where they went, probably someone steeling them at the warehouse.  Next NEVER EVER EVER ship to Brazil. Customs there is 100% corrupt.  If they open it and like it, it has a new owner, and you will be screwed.  I am going to pull out of the program if I have any more problems.  And yes Ive been around the block, Ive sold on Ebay since 1998.

Re: Ebay International Shipping Program

With the new ebay program, it does not matter if buyer receives the item or not since ebay will cover the refund and remove any negatives.  Used clothing are tough items and banned in some countries.

Re: Ebay International Shipping Program

To expand on @ms.rodriguez*'s fine post, what needs to be kept in mind is that eBay International Shipping is first and foremost a risk management strategy designed more to put sellers' minds at rest when it comes to exporting their items.  It's not so much designed with buyers/importers in mind.  As a Canadian buyer, I haven't seen nearly the hype about eIS directed at buyers as I did with the old Global Shipping Program, but I get the sense that eBay and/or EasyShip is trying to educate sellers on this new program and have sellers take more responsibility for listing with it than eBay and/or Pitney Bowes did for the GSP.

I don't get the sense that eIS is promising "smooth sailing" for international sales the way that the GSP did, but that may be because right now most eIS items aren't shipped duty (and taxes, where applicable) paid.  Or it might be because EasyShip and eBay realize that the program is still going through a lot of teething pains.

As for your problems with Australia, @vonrad, you're probably aware that the algorithms that direct who can purchase your items from are based on the item category, not the item itself.  I see you have a military clothing item listed under "Collectibles and Art."  Have you tried other categories for your militaria?

And, yes, Brazil is problematic, but my understanding is that it's because its government levies crippling customs charges on casual imports, so some of your items destined for Brazil may not be getting picked up by their buyers and that's why they're ending up in someone else's hands.  But with eIS, that's not your problem.  Once the item is accepted at one of the eIS forwarding hubs, eIS takes responsibility for issues like that.

Re: Ebay International Shipping Program

No, not true at all. If they don't get the item, you only get refunded for up to $100. So if the item costs 500, you still only get reimbursed for $100.

I think what you state is true of eBay International Standard Delivery@vonrad, but what @ms.rodriguez* stated about eBay International Shipping is correct.
