EIS multiple purchases question

@stainlessenginecovers  @pjcdn2005  @dbfolks166mt

Anyone who is familiar with EIS can answer, but paging you 3 b/c I know you have a lot of knowledge about EIS.  I combine shipping typically, even when buyers make 2 separate purchases.  I just combine them manually.   I just had 2 separate sales by the same buyer & was getting ready to combine them, when I realized they were EIS.   I've never had this happen under either GSP or EIS.

Can I combine them?  Or since it's 2 separate EIS ID's, do I need to send them individually?  I'm guessing I do, as charges were likely based on the weight/dimensions of the 2 individual pkgs.   Going to Canada, if it matters.  TIA.

EIS multiple purchases question

I don't believe you can combine them; and shouldn't for 2 reasons

1.) you've input the size & weight for IES (or GSP) to 'charge' the customer, so that customer has already been charged

2.) GSP or EIS is expecting 2 DIFFERENT shipments and they have ALREADY ASSIGNED a number for those 2 things.

If the buyer were to have 'put' the 2 items in their cart first (not sure they can with GSP or EIS) then 'MAYBE' Items can be combined.

But.. I wouldn't even try. If a buyer really doesn't want to 'pay that much' to ship items, they can send me a message, I can create a 'new' listing with the items, along with the new 'size & weight as well as 'assign it' to be on GSP/EIS (as right now, anything over $100 is 'excluded' from all continents and even North America except USA.

EIS multiple purchases question

Well this is a depends. What were the two items you sold and the weight and dimensions of the individual packages? Since they are going to Canada you have a weight limit of 66 pounds under EIS and a length and girth of 84 inches. Given what you sell I assume you can meet those requirements.

Combining with EIS may be interesting I have enough trouble with domestic sales and combined shipping. Unfortunately there is no contact number for the sub contractor in Chicago that is running this program for eBay. Has the buyer already paid for the individual purchases? I know the GSP Pitney Bowes was the one that sent the invoice to the buyer not sure if that is the case with EIS.

If the buyer gets the invoice and has an issue with the shipping cost you could work with them to cancel the current sales using buyer requested and create a bundle BIN custom listing for them still using EIS but with a single package and postage cost. Take the initiative to reach out to the buyer and see if they have received the invoice and what the shipping costs are showing as. If it is minor they may not be worried about the individual package costs.

EIS multiple purchases question

Jeez, I guess the mods moved this, I wanted it in Selling b/c that's where all the EIS knowledge is LOL.

Anyway,  thanks @dbfolks166mt  yes, they have paid for both individually, as do most of my domestic buyers.   Yes, I'm confident I can meet weight/dimensions limit, but given that they have 2 different reference numbers, I just don't know that there's a way to do it without it seeming to EIS like I didn't ship one of them.   I don't have any clue who sends the Invoice.  I assumed eBay sent the Invoice.

I'm likely overthinking this, as my TOS states that I only combine if you use the Shopping Cart, though in reality, I combine anyway.   I think I'm going to let sleeping dogs lie, just b/c I feel like I'll get bit LOL.  I do appreciate your input though.  TBH, I never had this happen with GSP, I think it would have been the same dilemma.

EIS multiple purchases question

Since they have paid I would simply send them as separate packages to be on the safe side. I am guessing that whomever the contractor is that eBay has running EIS sent the invoice just as Pitney Bowes did under GSP since the EIS logistics company would be the ones that would have to calculate and add in the international leg. They should also be the ones that update the tracking information in the eBay order once they have received and relabeled the package for the international leg.

EIS multiple purchases question

If buyer put them both in their cart, paid together with one transaction and the items showed as a single order with a single EIS ID then you could ship together. That's how it worked with GSP, not sure if EIS allows combining through cart.

But since they were paid for separately you have to ship separately.

EIS multiple purchases question

Thank you both, @stainlessenginecovers  that confirms my thinking as well.  Yes, it's true, she could have contacted me first & she was obviously ok with it, since she paid.  I'll just ship separately.

I'm working on an EIS FAQ that I plan to post on the shipping board. Put together a bunch of info that was revealed in the November seller check-in and some other stuff gleaned from discussions across different boards here.

I hope others will add whatever info or questions they have. There are so many different threads I thought it would be good for all of us to have a centralized discussion spot while we're all figuring out the nuances of the program and the changes eBay's been making.

@wastingtime101  Thank you for doing that!  I think that will be very helpful!  TBH, I even posted an update in the wrong thread the other day b/c there are so many on EIS right now & most with the same cast of characters LOL.  I don't get why all those are allowed to stay on the Selling Board & mine was moved, but whatever.

EIS multiple purchases question

Actually the amount a buyer pays is immediately shown on the listing; you can simply go to any of your own listings, scroll down to the 'shipping' tab and input 'whatever' country to see the price an international buyer would pay- which is all predicated on size/weight that a seller has inputted.

I know with US buyers, when they 'put things' in a cart, then purchase, the 'weights' I have shown for each item are 'ADDED UP' and then shown to me when I go to print (I then 'edit' the weight for the actual and refund the customer the difference (minus $1 each item handling and 14%).

@stainlessenginecovers  I just tried this & for the most part it works, but on at least 1 country (Turkmenisatan -sp?) it said that I didn't specify shipping costs.  Then I tried a bunch of others & it worked fine & all showed EIS shipping.  Then I went back to Turkmen & it worked fine the second time.  Weird.

Since I opted out of GSP and EIS and quit selling internationally I was not sure how EIS was handling the invoicing and shipping costs. I believe under GSP that information only became available after GSP had sent the invoice but apparently with EIS it does do the calculation and show the buyer. I took a look at one of your items, (Stainless BATTERY COVER engine chrome dress up parts) for a shipping cost to Spain does show the shipping cost, which seems pretty reasonable.

EIS multiple purchases question

I didn’t see this thread earlier. As others have said if the buyer paid separately the items have to be shipped separately.  When I first read about EIS it did specify that multiple items in an order could be shipped together and Devon confirmed that meant that multiple listings could  be shipped in one package as long as they were paid for together.

EIS multiple purchases question

The GSP shipping cost does show on GSP listings just like it does for EIS. The info that isn’t shown until checkout on the .com site are the import charges.   Those charges did show on the listings on other sites such as on .ca.

The GSP did combine international shipping costs (but didn’t combine domestic shipping) when item were paid for at one time.  At this time EIS does not combine shipping costs at all.  Buyers pay full price for each item even when items are shipped together)
