Hi everyone,
So I deal with the Doral, FL ship forwarding address all the time and never have had any issues...until today.
I received 15 orders back to back to back from buyers for the same item. All with weird usernames. All first time buyers (zero feedback). All the same weird address issues. But all payments came through on PayPal.
Now, maybe that would normally be fine. The different buyers is weird, but maybe these were all different orders for different people.
The problem is the addresses are messed up and I'm not talking about the reference codes they normally use either. An example:
Jahehabsjabdaj Polemdernadamser
2143 NW // 79-thH -Av! e ¢[¥] ~
~\|\_|\•oooo5155:/-_||~|
Doral FL 33122
See all the weird characters in the second line? (nevermind the crazy name).
Now, if you take out the weird characters the address is correct: 2143 NW 79th Ave.
That's the address for the shipping forwarder in Doral. But those weird characters would probably mean it would never get delivered correctly.
I reached out to each buyer asking what the deal is but for obvious reasons I may never hear back.
If I clean up the address, which would be easy enough, I'm pretty sure I void seller protections.
In addition, I did turn up an older thread on Google where someone experienced this issue and the buyer got back with them. They didn't know what the deal what the characters were but the purchase was cancelled, address corrected and the buyer reordered it. There was speculation their account was hacked the the weird characters added.
The problem is, of course, PayPal fees. 15 transactions add up. The good news is I spoke to PayPal and they agreed to reverse the fees for those transactions so it won't hurt if I cancel and refund them,
But wanted to get everyone's thoughts and advice before I go forward. Obviously, I'd love to make these sales if I could do it legitimately.
I don't have to ship until tomorrow before I get dinged by eBay.
Thanks.

If I messaged all 15 buyers, and received no response from any of them, I'd cancel using "Problem with address"
I's rather eat some fees if necessary than eat the cost of the items, my time, and the cost to ship.
My motto on ebay is, "Anything out of the ordinary......."

Clean up the address so it gets delivered. eBay goes by the city and zip code.

Do that, by 'editing' the address, and you lose all 'seller' protections; what there is of them..... Do NOT edit addresses. Cancel & refund safest bet.

"Clean up the address so it gets delivered. eBay goes by the city and zip code."
Can anyone else verify if there is any truth to this?

Well let's see. Instead of believing the tooth (as in a single incisor) fairy, what does eBay policy say:
Information required to prove a successful on-time delivery is all of the following:
- The tracking number provided by one of eBay's integrated shipping carriers;
- The tracking number is uploaded to the site, showing a shipping scan, before the estimated delivery date;
- A delivery status of "delivered" or "attempted delivery" (or equivalent in the country to which the item was delivered);
- The date of delivery or attempted delivery;
- The recipient's address, showing at least just the city/county or zip code (or international equivalent) that matches the address displayed on the Order details page; and
- Signature confirmation, if an item has a total cost of $750 or more.
Tracking doesn't show the corrected NAME or ADDRESS, just the delivered city and/or zip code, which is all that eBay and PayPal look for.

Well, in that case I honestly don't know what to do. eBay has told me I should cancel and refund, but that's likely because they know they'd be screwed if I didn't. Instead I'm screwed.
The buyer(s) paid but they are all sketchy one time zero feedback buyers who purchased in different accounts with weird names one after another after another. All have gibberish addresses but Doral, FL and the ZIP code is clear. From some of the gibberish you can make out the Doral shipping hub address as well.
When I spoke to ebay they did confirm it was all the same IP address. So this is some sort of fraud. My question is: how is this allowed to happen? How is eBay not protecting us? The SAME IP address is allowed to create multiple accounts and buy items one after another and that doesn't set off some kind of alarm for suspicious activity?
As it stands, they bought all 17 of my current inventory of my best selling item. They also targeted my friend for the same item. As of 7pm est they were still going after his listings, FOUR HOURS after we had both called to report the issue. They told us it could take up to TEN DAYS to do something about the buyer. In the meantime, what am I suppose to do? I cancel everything, refund the money but I'm scared to add the quantity back to my listing because what if they buy them again? Meanwhile, I can't sell to legit buyers.
It's so crazy.
