Doesn't an item have to ship within a timeframe from the time the label is printed?

I purchased an item on 11/4 and the seller printed the shipping label immediately and I received the notice that the item shipped and got the tracking number the same day.

It was suppose to be here by Thursday 11/9 according to the estimated delivery date.  I contacted the seller Thursday when the tracking showed nothing telling him if he hadn't shipped yet to refund my money so I could purchase it from another seller~~it was for meds for my dog that I NEED.

Tracking finally showed yesterday that he shipped it yesterday.  If he printed the label on Saturday the 4th how many days does he have to be able to use that same label?  Now ebay has extended the delivery date to Wed. the 15th.

I ship over the counter at the post office so I don't know much about labels you print yourself.  I did think though that you had to use that label within just a few days of printing it for it to be good to use?  I wouldn't think it would be good to use 6 days later.

This is the 3rd  time in a month this has happened~~the 1st 2 never shipped at all.  It's pretty sad that after being here selling for 18 years I can see why buyers distrust ebay sellers~~I'm beginning to distrust them myself.

Re: Doesn't an item have to ship within a timeframe from the time the label is printed?

When sellers purchase a shipping label, they can choose a shipping date to print on the label, but usually the options only go out about 3 days.  Technically packages are supposed to be shipped on the date that is printed on the label, but most Post Offices are flexible and will take packages that are "stale" by a day or two.  But that doesn't add up to the 6 days from this case.

Was that first scan an Acceptance scan? If it was any other type of scan, such as at a sorting center, then there's a possibility that the seller did ship it promptly and there was a delay in USPS performance rather than the seller's.  I hope your dog is OK.

When a seller has 1-day handling and gets paid on Saturday, eBay doesn't expect them to ship until Monday, so if your seller shipped on Friday then he was 4 days late (if he offered 1-day handling).

The 1st scan was yesterday and said it was "picked up".  Then it went on to a sorting center~~still in his state.  The pills are for my chocolate lab~~hip & joint and she has to have 3 of them every day.  I'm hoping I have enough to last until these get here.

I might not be so upset if the buyer had responded to me when I contacted him Thursday night~~instead he just put them in the mail Friday and still hasn't responded.

"Picked up" means it was shipped that day.  So the blame here lies with the seller, unless perhaps there was some failure of the USPS carrier to pickup the package.I don't blame you for being upset, whichever it is.

The Seller has the option on what handling time is involved - 1 to 3 days.  I have been sited by Ebay for not shipping an item on the next day - because I specify one day handling time on my description.  I'm sure it will show up on his ratings.  However I just did notice that USPS is not 100% accurate on some of its shipping time. I recently sent something Priority Mail from NJ to TX and it 's still not delivered after 6 days.

Re: Doesn't an item have to ship within a timeframe from the time the label is printed?

The seller states he will ship BY the 2nd business day after payment.  That would have been Tuesday.  I guess ebay estimated the delivery date as Thursday since he marked it shipped and printed the label & downloaded the tracking number on Saturday?

The tracking clearly states it was "picked up by USPS" after 4 PM on Friday, left his post office on Friday and arrived at the sorting center today 11/11 in his state of GA..  It's coming 1st class.

I really wish I had read his "feedback left" before buying from him.  He calls his buyers cheats, thieves and liars.  Wonder what he'll call me IF I decide to leave him his deserved feedback?  I can have mine as a buyer  removed~~as the seller he can't.

Did you check out shipping  he had listed before buying from him as well ?  You need priority mail  not First class  which  USPS does not  move fast anymore  .

Don't let this bad seller ruin your day. Before buying anything from a certain seller, I always look at their feedback.

Leave the seller appropiate feedback, he cannot leave you negative as you already know. I hope your dog is doing ok.☺

In most cases FCM moves just as fast as Priority, at least in my experience. They both travel on the same trucks and fly in the same planes.

Re: Doesn't an item have to ship within a timeframe from the time the label is printed?

I did check the shipping and it was listed as "economy 1st class" and my experience with items I ship is that 1st class is most times delivered FASTER than Priority.  Items I purchased around the same time have been delivered days ago~~other meds for my dog ordered 11/2 shipped UPS and turned over to the post office for delivery were here on 11/8.  700 feet of bubble wrap ordered 11/3 shipped Fed Ex Smartpost was delivered 11/8.  This one ordered 11/4 didn't even ship until 11/10.

I hate to leave neg feedback for other sellers because it makes me look bad as a seller myself.  I know if I'm buying something and I look at the sellers feedback left and see they have left neg's for other sellers I sometimes hit the back button.  I don't know if I'll leave any feedback for this seller~~as I didn't leave any for the other 2 sellers that never shipped at all.

You should buy on one account and sell on another.

Re: Doesn't an item have to ship within a timeframe from the time the label is printed?

>>since he marked it shipped and printed the label & downloaded the tracking number on Saturday

If the label was printed through eBay labels, he didn't do anything except print a label. eBay is the one that automatically enters the tracking, marks it as shipped, and sends you the email stating it has shipped (when in fact only a label has been printed).

An ongoing gripe of many sellers who print labels through eBay labels, along with not showing handling times any longer which allows buyers to make some educated guesses (that likely contradict eBay's ridiculous EDDs)

The Thursday EDD is once again eBay's doing and likely unrealistic. It is supposed to be based on handling time, and the Thurs EDD you saw was an unrealistic one in the listing (unless seller is <200 miles from you). Once the actual label got into the mailstream, the EDD was revised.

So all the hate shouldn't be on the seller. Even if they had mailed on Tuesday per their handling time it most likely would not have arrived on Thursday, and maybe not even Fri.

You know the drill in the forums here: don't make time sensitive purchases online. Even under ideal circumstances there are no guarantees 🙂 Sitting on the package from Tues to Friday IS on the seller though.

If the seller had 1-day handling, then they were supposed to ship on Monday, not Tuesday.
