Does the Post Office charge extra to customers if i use fragile stickers? My postmaster said they would be charged at pickup? I’ve never heard such? Does anyone know if this is true? She said to write it with a marker on the package. If it is true does anyone know how much it cost the customer to pick up?

only if you use the ones that the post office supplies. I have plain red FRAGILE stickers that I put on my boxes all the time with no extra charges.

It is 10.95, payable at the post office, if you use their Fragile Stickers. It gets special handling. You would be better off packing well and buying insurance.

The Fragile stickers from USPS are for special handling, which does incur an additional fee. That is why she told you to just write Fragile on the box with a marker; to save you (or your buyer) money.

There is a $10.95 fee for Special Handling service. The sticker for that service has "Fragile" on it in big letters. Any other Fragile sticker will not incur this fee. I sure hope that your Postmaster hasn't decided to charge $10.95 for every package that has a random Fragile sticker on it!

Our carrier seems to ignore " fragile" or "do not fold" stickers or writings & will cram packages or fold them into our mail box. Always take a pic and forward to the person in charge of the carriers - doesn't seem too help much.
I would read this link before i would pony up $10.95 unless your are shipping things like chickens plants, etc.

Carriers are allowed to ignore "Do not bend." USPS actually issued an official memo when they removed all references to "Do not bend" from their manual:
There has been a longstanding mailing standard that mailers marking their mailpieces with “Do Not Bend” must add a stiffener within the mailpiece. That requirement was included to provide a sensory reminder in case our employees did not see the marking. However, we do not guarantee that these pieces will not be bent during processing or bent or folded when delivered. Therefore, we are removing references to this marking. "

If you use your own fragile stickers they are pretty much ignored. But on the plus side they are free.
If you BUY the sticker from the post office then they are given special treatment appropriate to the sticker. They will be the last item on the truck and the first item off the truck.
Your own stickers will be buried somewhere in the pile.
As others have stated - you will get better success if you pack it based on its fragility.

Here are the stickers.......
IF you use THESE stickers the charge is $10.95
IF you use your own FRAGILE stickers, there is no charge
