When I list an item, I weigh it without a box but estimate my cost for shipping. My listed items are all shelved without a box. Sometimes I'm not positive at the listing time what box I will use. I do not use calculated shipping but use same cost for all buyers. With the new rules, do I need to box every item ahead of listing so I can enter all the dimensions for accurate shipping costs? Even my small little lightweight items? Do I need to go back and box up all my shelved items and enter in the dimensions?

I like to prebox my items up minus the taping just in case a question about the item comes in. Besides getting accurate shipping costs this also keeps the item clean and safe already prepackaged while it is listed.
Nothing worse than sell an item and then drop and break it while packaging it up. Buyers tend to not believe you and just think you said that because it did not sell for enough. Accidents do happen especially if you have kids and/or pets so I play it safe and prebox them.
Also all items listed and preboxed by me go in a different room and can be stacked nicely to fit more in that area and can be easily found when sold versus hunting through listed and not listed items trying to find that item.
Yes, boxing can be time consuming and some say it is a waste of time if it doesn't sell. But for me I would rather waste time packing my items early than after it sell. I can dictate when I pack and list but I can not be sure when the item sell. What I am getting at here is I am a very busy person and what would happen if the item sells when I am busy and don't have time to pack it right away? This way when it sells I just need to add the label, tape the seam shut and it is out the door the same day instead of my trying to rush to get it done to make the next day mail. What happens when you rush? That is right, you make silly mistakes and possibly damage the items so I like to prepack at my leisure and do it cautiously and correctly and then list it. Then I only have to rush to the post office afterwards when it sells and not do everything else. 🙂
Preboxing you tend to wait til you get the right box for that item but when you just list and box later you tend to grab any box that is close even if it is a little small or little to big because you don't have time to source the correct size box and packing material for that sold item..

You do mean a scale, right? Every smartphone and computer has a calculator in it.
