Shipped an item out today. The shipping option was for FedEx Home, "actual cost" based on dimensions and weight.
The buyer paid $10.52 for this option, but then when I went to print out the label, it cost me $12.64?!? If it calculated how much to charge the buyer based on the information I provided and I used that same info when I printed the label, how is there a discrepancy?!

Good Grief, is this true? I'm shipping an expensive item, always have used USPS but the charges seem higher than Fedex and UPS. I need insurance, so have to choose the shipping method from all three that give higher amount insurance option.
Who's the best to choose then?
Thx

If you used FedEx, you won't know how much it cost you until it shows up on your invoice.
The charge could be higher or lower.

You were charged a surcharge. Try to use USPS. If you input the correct weight and measurements and choose USPS you'll get the correct rate.

If you need insurance it is available through all the carriers, also there is third party insurance available. I haven't used it as I self insure. Others can tell you which is best in that area.

That additional amount could be due to several things:
