Discounted Shipping Rates UPS/FedEx

I haven't sold on eBay for a couple of years. I have found a few old threads about this, but nothing recent.

I am shipping a 10x14x4 3lb 12oz box. Via the eBay Shipping calculator, USPS is the most expensive for the continental US by $5. And FedEx and UPS are showing a 74% discount for Express Saver and 34% discount for UPS Ground. UPS 3 day select is about the same as USPS, but still a 57% discount from retail.  Express saver doesn't give you an option to select home delivery (which I know is an additional fee).  By far the best option is the FedEx Express Saver, but hesitant to trust this estimate.

Has anyone used the Express Saver at this highly discounted rate and not get severely overcharged? Is the shipping calculator just wrong? I am shipping from the west coast and was sure to put in the furthest continental US location.  Thanks.

No idea on this: But the second charging by FedEx would worry me also. To many reports of that on the boards.

@meeshiandpoogans2006

Tried to reproduce what was written..... I'm using the eBay discount rates for all three USPS, UPS and FedEx to Zone 8.

Here is what I see for a package with those dimensions and weight.

Priority Mail - $18.96

FedEx Express Saver- $14.13

UPS 3-day Select - $18.84

If I don't apply the eBay rates to the USPS I get $23.60 for the Priority Mail.

So not able to reproduce what you are seeing.

What are you finding?

Re: Discounted Shipping Rates UPS/FedEx

It's called bait and switch, or bait with a great shipping price from eBay's own calculator and then get a HUGE surprise when you are charged a whole lot more from FedEx. I bet many people like myself, didn't even realize this was happening because the shipping cost doesn't change under your orders/shipping labels. You will see a huge red number on your invoice for shipping that does not match remotely to the calculations and quoted prices by eBay. So, so WRONG!! This seems to be a fairly new failure...

" But the second charging by FedEx would worry me also. To many reports of that on the boards." So true!!!!
