Delayed by customs due to lack of documentation..

Shipped international. Buyer complains that customs wont release his order. Looking at tracking shows this

"Delayed by customs due to lack of documentation"

Is this out of my hands?

His phone number equates to Chile. Ebay says not to ship to that address. I just shipped to the ebay international hub in illinois. I dont know where its going from there? Should I contact buyer and ask where he is? Ir should I stay out of it?

Do not ship to this address.

That message means it is going to Chile and utilizes EIS.

You are out of the loop. Your buyer must file his claim for non-receipt with Ebay.

What was it?

Tell me it's not the Barbie doll?

Once in a blue moon I used to get an order to Chile...but usually don't get orders there.

I can't imagine what the item was that the buyer couldn't find in Chile?

Hopefully, it gets returned to you before having to refund.

It's out of your hands...do nothing.

@12345jamesstamps  Sellers NEVER have to refund, no matter what, when an item is shipped and received by EIS.

Does this include a dispute with a buyer's credit card?...with EIS

And although OP mentioned 'eBay International hub in Illinois'...we assume there was not an error in the shipping of it out.

Curious, only items that go to this eBay International hub in Illinois are packages by eBay...thus other packages go somewhere else not EIS?

As my boss always say...'expect the unexpected'...working a 9 to 5 job on my feet.

I understand the process of EIS...never have to refund and may not get item returned.

I did mention it's out of the OP's hands...

Yes, includes chargebacks. Also note, doesn't matter "IF" it went out or it went to Antarctica- out of sellers hands once EIS recieves.

Seller can also get any neg removed if they bark about shipping time, lost, damaged etc.

Like 'if it happens in Vegas stays in Vegas'- "if it ships to EIS, Problems stay with EIS"

We also have the 'eBay saids do not ship to this address' by the OP.

Probably not the exact wording but I get a few of these as such where the buyer is longer  'registered on eBay' and eBay tells me not to ship item out although I get the email from eBay after I ship the item out.

So, as I say expect the unexpected.

And it will not be returned to the seller  - ever. Ebay or its agent is the exporter of record and the return address.

Ebay says not to ship to the Chile address because all sellers should ship to EIS, not directly to the buyer.

Ebay has that notification on every EIS order.

As I understand it ebay takes care of the chargeback on a NAD because the item is "supposed" to be inspected.

...though I have not had any experience with either a GSP or EIS chargeback for an INR or NAD

Last time I had an item get returned was a ceramic bottle to Germany via GSP. It was turned away by customs as prohibited...though no one could figure out why. Ebay refunded the buyer and about 6 months later my bottle was returned.
